Sierra Says: You know what they say about guys with big feet… they need wide snowboards. The Skunk Ape is a true twin high performance freestyle snowboard designed for the guys with big feet. This board comes equipped with banana tech on all sizes, except 180cm and 190cm, to allow street and park style performance. It is geared toward the intermediate to advanced level riders who want to start dialing down new tricks everyday whether it is in or out of the park. Lastly, the power transfer internal sidewalls stiffen this board torsionally to increase edge performance on the mountain. You will never be let down when transitioning from one part of the mountain to the next when riding the Skunk Ape.

Use: Groomed,High Speeds,Low Speeds,Off Trail,Park,Powder,Switch Riding,Ungroomed
Pros: stable, playfull (loose and catch free), can do it all
Cons: banana might not be your thing,

Experience: If you have big feet and no skunk ape, your only half complete. I ordered the skunk ape a couple of months before this season (2009) kicked off. I origionally just wanted a great board that was 1. a banana, and number 2. wanted a wide board to handle my size 12's. This season I rode banana tech or reverse camber (you say potato I say po-tah-toe) and found that snowboarding didn't have to involve unfair, edge catching moments. This board first and foremast is a stiff banana. make no butts about it. I weigh 181.2 lbs (checked this morning) and the rocker in the middle of the bindings only presses out somewhat. Enough to be sure, but if your 125 lbs soaking wet, I might look for banana magic or skate banana. Any-who-zer, Once you figure out that you have to apply pressure to both feet instead of hanging back on your back foot, this board opens up its legs for you. I couldn't get over how playfull it was yet completely stable. The ease in initiating amazing and life altering feeling carves was instant and has not yet faded at all. The only thing that I would be a little mindfull of is that the board is indeed wide. This has caused me to get used to a different feel of riding (especially when flat based). As far as the base goes...holy yes. The TNT base not only held up well to some early season rocks but, also sent me down the mountain with fury. The great thing though was the board was still stable as a rail and I didn't have to worry about catching any edges, truly a next level experience. No jibbing for me other than hitting a mini-wall but, I had no problems with the board feeling different than any other board I've ever ridden so there. I definitely recommend this to any sasquatch (obviously) but, also to anyone looking for a wide board that can do it all with style.
