Likes: North Face is once again a quality brand! After being a quality brand in the late 80s and early 90s... North Face became a little over priced for the quality. They are back to where they started. Making great gear! They have a ton of great outerwear products and good outdoor/ hiking type shoes as well.

Likes: TNF is a bay-area company (I think) that initially had a lot of success for the right reasons. Quality gear on hard-core athletes in bad-ass places. They do make a ton of solid gear, including expedition-level everything, and if you're payin attention to the tech of your particular pieces TNF is going to give you what you need. Although some complain about the price, I've generally found that TNF has a competitive price with other high-end gear companies if you compare truly similar products.

Dislikes: TNF has become a fashion brand. Maybe it's just with their more popular/ubiquitous pieces -- anyone here have TNF fleeces? -- but I just don't have the impression when I see those that they're made to be worn many places besides the street. On the other hand, their high-end gear is for real, and I guess my comment is directed more toward the fact that because they're catering to so many different styles/needs, you need to take a hard look at the TNF piece you're actually buying to determine the tech inside and whether it's going to be a quality piece of gear for your needs.

Likes: First aquaintance with North Face brand went through my first gloves which lasted me for about 2-3 srasons and not they are my secondary gloves, I often borrow them. What is important about NF is that the gear is realy high quality, they don't do cheap. Even if design and coloristics aren't very expressive (basically they have really cool boardershorts) they still look very modern and interesting. This brand is widely selled and bacomes very popular on mountain. My boyfriend also has snowboard jacket from North Face which showd high quality and durability.

Dislikes: Not much interesting women designs.

Likes: looks great, weight and functionality generally on par with comparable products

Dislikes: not necessarily durable, OP'd. their market appears to be geared more towards a general public rather than the hardcore crowd, eg. their frame backpacks aren't too nice in that they seem to rip when it's a 30+ lbs load

Likes: Ratings are accurate Quality construction North Face can be counted on for keeping you dry. I have two friends one with a jacket and the other with pants. We were riding in the middle of a storm with fairly wet snow and the snow on his pants was beading up really nice. His pants were staying completely dry which I could not say for my pants with a fairly high waterproof rating.

Likes: i love the north face. has some of the best quality, most durable, good looking products out there. can't beat them. i highly, highly recommend their gear.

Dislikes: very expensive. want a poor-mans north face? go with helly hansen (while HH is cheaper, i still highly recommend both)

Likes: their stuff is definitely of high quality and durability. their backpacks are comfortable for school and on the slopes and i haven't worn a jacket that was as light and warm as the ones that came from north face

Likes: I just purchased a pair of North Face snow pants and I couldn't have been happier! My old pair of snow pants were getting worn out and were no longer staying warm. These new pair of pants fit me perfectly and allow me to move freely when doing jumps.

Likes: I have had a number of North Face jackets and tactical gear. It is pricy, but the workmanship and the technical aspects are simply not matched by any other company out there with Oakley snow pants and jackets coming close. While the prices are exorbitant, at the end of the day if you need gear that is 100% perfect and your life or safety is on the line, North Face is what you need. Seeing the brand in-bounds at a ski resort just means someone has a serious case of overkill.

Dislikes: You pay for it though the nose, not a lot of fun colors and schemes.

Likes: For the most part, North face is high quality gear. Most their gear is fashionable and does the job.

Dislikes: North Face has become immensly popular. Cannot walk to class without seeing 50 people wearing NF gear. With this said, i feel some of their products have lost the high quality standard they used to be known for. Some of their products i feel are now made just for the NF symbol on the front.

Likes: I tend to think that since North Face gear has become so popular, they rest on their mass appeal and the benefits of brand equity. They definitely have great gear, good colors, good fits, but so many people are shelling out dough for the logo. I haven't had any problems with the gear that I have, but I also wouldn't pay full price for any of it either. Good thing Sierra has great prices on it.

Dislikes: Price, it feels like the quality of the gear may have gone down compared to 10 years ago.

Likes: Of the top of my head I own a north face triclimate ski jacket, north face puffy vest, Recon backpack and a Sweeper backpack. All items are of a superior quality and have stood up to some pretty high usage (especially the backpacks)
