I'm looking at the ride kink 2011 or the ride manic 2011.. because they're on sale for an amazing 220 dollars right now... Obviously i need a wide board size 14 boot.. My weight is like 130 and my height is like 5"ll or 5"10.. But i want it to last me a few seasons.. i actually got lucky looking on craigslist the first time and bought a board and bindings that were less than 4 years old for $80. mind you i had never boarded before that so i just asked people what size was good for me. turns out it was perfect. i've learned since that you won't know until you're on the mountain which is best.

You don't even really need a mid-wide with size 12 boots, a regular boot will do just fine for beginner to intermediate riders who aren't making carved or high board angle turns. not necessarily; beginners can use all mountain boards too but they wouldnt be using the board to its full potential, because once they become intermediate, there is a good chance they will get a new board

Snowboarding is fun, but buying a snowboard can become very stressful if you don’t know what you are looking for. Consider your gender, shoe size, weight, skill level, riding style and budget when you pick out a snowboard. The goal of Sierra Snowboard Ski & Patio is to provide our customers with the most up to date and accurate information possible. Skill Levels

 

Beginner

Beginner snowboarders come in a variety of shapes, sizes, colors and back rounds. Beginner snowboarders can range from people who have never snowboarded before, have only rented snowboards, have trouble turning both toe and heal side and average less than 5 days on the hill per season. Snowboards in this class are designed to be rider friendly, meaning they are soft and easy to ride at slow speeds. They will help new riders gain confidence on the slopes as they learn how to control and turn the snowboard. As a side note, even if you have snowboarded several times, but want a board which gives the rider ultimate control and a “safe feeling” on the slopes, pick a board from our beginner category.

 

Intermediate

Intermediate riders at a minimum know how to connect toe and heel side turns. They might have snowboarded only a couple times or have many seasons under their belt. These riders should feel confident on all groomed green and blue runs, and wants to start exploring on some advanced, black diamond runs or off groomed trails.
