I personally like a mid flex board for any kind of riding. A super buttery board will make sticking bigger jumps a real pain in the rear, but allows you to lock on to rails waaay easier.

In return, a stiffer board will give you some jumping capabilities, but tends to slide off of rails easier.

Now, I have no doubt that an experienced rider can shred on a "non-typical" park board, but the OP obviously has no idea what his preference in a board is. With such a general question, you have to give him a generalized answer. And YES, I would say that the typical park board these days is a short, reverse camber, flexy board. That just seems to be what people are riding for whatever reason.

I would say that if you can't get out to demo's, just to read reviews and pick something within your budget that you like. In the end, its all about the rider. There isn't a board out there that is going to make you 100x better as soon as you strap in.

What is the best park board? I have used tons of boards in the park. The best park board is the one you feel most comfortable in the park with. Everyone is different, you are in control not the board. Companies tag their models with "park board" so they can target unexperienced riders who see this and think that a board can magically make them talented. Demo boards and find your board! Its not the board, its the rider. Best of luck

So I guess if I want to jib, I can only do it well with a softer reverse camber deck, but as soon as I add kickers to the mix, the soft reverse camber board doesn't work (and vise versa). Maybe some people prefer to use a fish or banana hammock when jibbing (although the latter may be near impossible simply due to the sidecut). It DOESN'T matter. A lot of people like me will use a stiff set up no matter where they go because it works. Then there are those on the other end of the spectrum, who will use soft. Think of it this way. I think everyone understands that once you have experience board selection for various terrain comes down to preference...
The OP asked for advice on what HE should look for, not what type you think he should get because YOU ride it. If he really needs to come on and ask a vague question like this then chances are this guy is a newer rider and may not know what works for him. In that case, softer is always going to be a little "better" than stiffer.

Bottom line to this thread: Park boards (which the OP asked for) are GENERALLY going to have a softer flex, both lengthwise and torsionally, and be twin or "twin-like" shape.
Soft boards "lock" into rails better (fact) because the can flex around the feature more, in essence "locking" the board into a position for the slide.
Softer boards are more forgiving due to the ability to manipulate the board in order to "save it". So why tell this guy, who obviously has no clue in the park" to go buy a stiffer board? That is doing nothing but setting him up for even harder slams. Maybe once he gets a grasp on what he is doing and what he prefers then he can go on and try something stiffer if he feels he needs it.

However, i also do believe that certain boards do assist with certain types of riding, especially when starting out as a new rider, dalper may want something thats more forgiving and will allow him to grow as a rider instead of something that will get him frustrated. It also doesn't make a board 'press.' It may seem more flexible but all it does is that it makes the board pre-positioned in a banana or v shape, or whatever you want to call it. Basically, since it is pre-positioned in that way, you don't always have to put 'so much' effort to put it in the press position. Also, if you cannot press on stiffer snowboards or cambered snowboards, you have a really long way to go. Guys like Nico Muller, Mark Landvik, and T.Rice all use fairly stiff set ups, and they can butter the shit out of a snowboard. Nico Muller in my mind is the best at it, and he used a T6 for years, and the T6 is very stiff.

Rocker boards are great for the park. If you don't know what rocker is, it's just the shape of the board. It will give you lots of pop and are nice and buttery. Rockers aren't the best for jumps but they still work. Demo a few boards, it's the easiest way to find a good park board.

As panther already stated, most park specific boards have a softer flex. Depending on what you plan to do with the board, you can size down a little for a park board since you will most likely be throwing the board around either on rails, boxes, jibs or jumps. Park boards tend to be freestyle twins meaning the tip and tail are the same. There are a few different types of camber / reverse camber and two different types of bases (sintered and extruded). Use the search function at the top and I guarantee you'll find everything you need to know about what you're looking for. Welcome to the site.
