The Wilderness Exchange Class is tomorrow night at 7:30pm.  More snow is on the way, good time to learn a little about what we face out there.

Jealous... They don't even offer those types of classes in SoCal.
The ski patrol teach their own.
Mammoth/Bishop is the closest place to us for public classes.

I'm not sure exactly what FOBP is going to do for the on-snow sessions, but if you get a chance to follow Killclimbz & Co. around Berthoud Pass for a day I would definitely recommend taking advantage

That's cool they offer these classes for free. My AAIRE classes were like $350. Friends of Berthoud Pass is once again offering free basic avalanche awareness classes this season.  First Class is this coming Tuesday at DU.  If you live in the Colorado Front Range and are interested in backcountry riding, this is a great way to check out what you need to know.  You can also find us on Facebook. 

There are on snow days in February that are also free.  I will update the information as it become available. Get educated.

Friends of Berthoud Pass 2012-13 avalanche classes

FOBP is pleased to continue our free series of avalanche awareness classes for the 2012-13 season. We will provide backcountry travelers with a classroom overview of avalanche awareness, avoidance, rescue and forecasting methods and skills.

Topics such as route selection, hazard minimization, best practices, preparedness and terrain analysis will be covered in a 2-hour classroom presentation.

The course is free and open to the public. Donations are kindly accepted. No RSVP is needed.

The class runs from 7:00pm until approximately 9:00pm.

Full-day on-snow sessions at Berthoud Pass will be conducted in February 2013. You must attend a classroom presentation in order to register for the on-snow.
