Author: nitro909
Subject: 52833
Posted: Nov/10/2012 at 9:03am

Im about your size, 190, 6', sz 11 Burton SLX and I rode the Custom FV 58 last year. Its a really good, stable, fun board. It holds an edge really well, Id say the flex is medium(high medium), really snappy(pop), and the fv gives it that looseness when in the park. For your riding the Custom will be good, but the CFV will give you a little extra forgivess while in the park and a little extra float when you get pow. Its a really great top to bottom, peak to park type of board, it handles everything really well.

Size wise really depends on where you ride and how big of a mtn youre at. The 58 was fine for me, I normally ride smaller mtns, but even at places like Mammoth the board performed really well and never felt too small. Also, keep in mind that the "wide" version isnt really a wide, its just a bigger mid wide than the standard mid wide, I think less than .5cm diff between the two models. Depending on the overall length of your boot, either version may work for you. The 'reg' 58 worked good for my sz 11 boots and sz M EST's, but the 58w prob would have worked just as well also.

Between the Malavita and Cartel, I rode the Malavita last year and really like the asym strap. I prefer it over the Cartel strap, it feels a lot more comfortable, but also has very good support. The Restricted Cartel has the same asym strap, so theres also that option. The biggest diff is going to be the hinge baseplate on the Vitas. Depending on who you ask, it may or may not be noticeable. I noticed it more while riding the Nug than the CFV, but it does seem to 'move' with you better than the Cartel tray. Also, dont neccessarily assume you need a sz L binding. The EST's run big and you may fit very well in the M, take your boots with you and check out the bindings. The M fits me perfect, but the L has a ton of uneeded extra space on me.

Burton Custom or Flying V : Hi. After research and reading...

    Author: skullmonkey
Subject: 52833
Posted: Nov/09/2012 at 8:11am

Hi. After research and reading forum threats, it comes to these two decks. My mind is torn between Burton Custom and Burton Flying V snowboards.

I'm:
- 85-90 kg (187-198 lb) of weight,
- 186 cm (6.1 foot) height,
- 46 (11.5) foot size and have Thirty Two Lashed 2012 model,
- Want to use the board for: 10% parks, 10% powder, the rest for the down the tracks and between trees. I want to have fun with the board. Most of mounties I go don't have proper parks so most of the riding is on the tracks... not much powder also.

My questions are / need help over:

1. I guess I'll need the W (wide) version of the board?
2. What board do you suggest for my profile?
3. What size should I get? 158W, 162W or 165W?
4. Which bindings should I get? The Malavita EST or the Cartel EST?

Thanks for the help and tips,
skullmonkey
