can someone break down the pros and cons of riding a short board ie. im 5'10" board is a 150cm. thanks |

how much do you weigh?
Basically, a shorter board will give you quicker mobility, be easier to whip around in the park/on rails/freestyling.
The trade-off is that it will wash out in turns if it's too short, and you'll lose stability at speed.
A shorter board will naturally have a smaller waist width, so if you have big feet - or even average size feet sometimes - that could be an issue.
Also, if you get in powder, it's going to suck. Don't expect any float at all.
Basically what i'm saying is - if you live in the park, that's fine - but anywhere else, expect some problems.

yep, you pretty much nailed it...but I'll add that if you like to hit decent size jumps in the park, it might not handle well there as you need something that can handle speed without getting "chattery" on the in-run, and the extra surface area of a longer board will help with stomping landings.
But, if jibbing and bonking is your thing, I think you can get away with a 150

Jon Jon your fat ass needs at least a 157cm board. Like already stated a short board is easier to spin and press but is unstable at high speeds. A longer board is more stable at high speeds but harder to spin. We can go ride soon and you can try my 155 or my 159 and see how you like those. |
