Bru and nfinit,
Once you get your passes, post which ones you got.
I'm hoping to be living in Denver by January and won't really know anyone to ride with.

I am 90% sure I will be going with the Copper WP. It's just a good package. Always up for new people to ride with as well. Usually I know someone who is going almost every weekend. Like me going to Copper all weekend, it will be fun!

I just gotta say that Copper was SICK on Saturday! I have no clue how much pow they got overnight, but hitting up the Sierra lift was amazing. The only problem was that I brought the jib board because when I checked on Thursday, it was supposed to be like 45 degrees there...doh! Even though I had the wrong board (Stairmaster 156W), I still hit up 4 or 5 runs of fresh pow off the Sierra lift before my back leg was on fire. the Stairmaster is definitely not a powder board. lol
Yesterday (closing day) was killer too. Spent the entire day riding off the High Point lift. My son & I - along with a ton of other people - poached the run that was closed off for boarder cross (something they hadn't taken down from a few weeks ago) most of the day. Hitting the drop offs at speed was wicked insane! I even busted a 180 off one and rode away even in heavy, heavy wet powder. I kepy going for a 3, but never made it past about 270.
About 2:30pm though...Man the snow was hot, slushy & way slow, so I packed it in and called it a day. I'd never ridden in snow conditions like that & I gotta admit that I hated it. Anytime I went to turn, the board lost all speed.
I'm not ready to hang up the board yet. So I'm gona pick up a 2008/9 Loveland pass so I can ride till May 4th this year too.

I'm going to pick up a Loveland pass for 08/09 to go with my Echo Mtn pass for 08/09. Echo season passes are $129 right now. Was too good to pass up. Specially since they're open till 9pm. Gives me plenty of time to ride after work Wednesdays & Thursdays. Which means that I'm riding till May 4th this year!

Damn I gotta drive to Vail to get mine :(
Being back in CO rocks. Well I'll be down at Loveland or A-basin next weekend if anyone is around and up for riding. Probably gonna hit up Vail first to get my pass before riding one of the days. |

Doing Loveland this Saturday for sure. If anyone is up for riding?
Possibly doing A-Basin on Sunday but I might take the day off to hang in Steamboat. |

Sweet! Yeah A-Basin hasn't announced the closing date yet as far as I can tell...I'm really hoping with the snowpack, they stay open till July 4th like they have in previous years.

Rode Loveland on Saturday, the whole mountain is open with tons of snow. In fact got some fresh turns on Saturday with a couple inches of new snow on the mountain.
I bought the Vail pass, so I've got Breck, Keystone, A-Basin plus 10 days at Vail/BC for next year. Plus i'll have my Steamboat/Copper/WP pass. So now I can ride most mountains for next year |

Well what do you know. The A-Basin tickets I picked up from Craigslist were perfectly good. Saturday was a pretty nice day at A-Basin. They got around 10" Thurs & Friday, so the runs were still quite nice by Saturday.
I finally did a backside nose press 27 out too. |

Nice, yeah I knew of a group of friends that went to A-Basin on Saturday.
Loveland on Saturday was awesome, chair 9 was open and all the gates to the north and south were open so the hike to terrain was amazing. Fresh powder turns every run and we didn't get there till 10am. Now it's just A-basin riding. |

On the snow.
Since I went with someone that was somewhat noobish to riding, I spent most of the day on the easier runs practicing some butters. Tried to hit the upper terrain park, but it was closed for a rail jam they were having...Which meant the lower terrain park was, well, unusable. Must have been 30 people on the lower park & no one was waiting their turn.

A-basin's terrain park states that it will be open into June, so you should be able to get a day in Bru.
How is the recovery?

The mini park is gone but the main terrain park is up with features.
Rode yesterday and today...completely different in terms of weather and conditions. Yesterday was snowing with fresh 5 inches of powder and today was bluebird spring. Last weekend will be fun for sure, definitely planning to be there both days so we'll have to meet up! |

It hasn't been too bad for snow. I've been there early since parking has been a hassle and wasn't ice skating.

While some seasons that might be true, there is plenty of snow to enjoy an full on powder day. There could be close to a foot of fresh by Saturday. It may also end up only being 2-4" but I am guessing late season snowfall, and the spring nature of it, could make for some plentiful snowfall in some areas. Above 11k ft there is just a ton of snow. These pics are from just over the ridge from Slapaho basin last Saturday. ![]() ![]() Lot's of rocks buried under feet of snow. I've had full on powder days as late as May 19th in the past. A good possibility that will be beat this year. |

I haven't hit any rocks unless I was riding Pali chair where rocks are abundant.
Sweet Saturday could be a powder day :) I'll be staying in Breck all weekend so it's a quick drive from there but yeah 1.5 hours from Steamboat usually. |

those a-basin picks look sweet. I have to say it's pretty good riding for this time of year. It's just once I start with softball and soccer in the summer, hard to go back to boarding. If it was an hour drive it would be no problem, but 2 is just too much for me this time of year.

Today was super fun so I hope you guys made it up! Powder turns, some slush, not any ice...and good times. It was less crowded for sure, we made it up around 10am and still had no problem with parking.
here's the post from today with the pics...probably one of the most fun days in a while. I'll be around tomorrow and Monday with the same crew probably...we're bright. I hear you on the other stuff...I still have snow in steamboat so it's hard to switch over to summer stuff when the mtns are still snowing. I got softball and beach volleyball this summer to partake in with friends...looking forward to it. |

Anyone heading up for closing this weekend?
I'll be up both days and staying at a friends place, we're gonna have a BBQ/drink lots of beer time...pretty sure there's crashing room for all you denver folk that don't wanna drive home. Other than that...should be a good time. I'm trying to decide whether I want to bring my one-piece for the final day...i think i'm dared to though so we'll see. Bru...you ready to ride? |
