It helps a lot if you give them a story or tell them about yourself such as where you ride, what you like to ride (pow, park, groomers) and why you like their company. Or attach a photo of you riding, etc. To make it seem more personal. I noticed when I went on my sticker rampage it helped a lot if I mentioned where I was going to put there stickers. I would say "......If it would be possible to get a few stickers so I could throw them on my board and my car that would be awesome..." This means you're a moving billboard for them. Some companies don't send you anything, others send you a care package.
One in specific I remember was Zeal optics, try em out. They sent me a ton of extra large stickers and a free t-shirt, I just asked for "a couple stickers."

Just heard back from Columbia Sportswear, and although they aren't technically one of the most popular snowboarding brands, they did agree to hook it up with some stickers.  I just filled out their online form located here:

For all the girl shredders out there, I recently put in a super small order with Betty Rides and in the comments section of the order I let them know all my BR stickers were trashed out. They sent me a grip of awesome vinyl die-cuts with my order for free :) :) Big ups for women's snowboarding and Betty Rides!!

I got a some from rome, bern, evolv, mammut, and other climbing/snow companies. Backcountry.com gives them away too!

If you follow some company's twitter or FB, sometimes they announcement free sticker posts.
