Rails and Your Board

as long as you wax it youll be fine. your prolly afraid to scratch it cuz its new, im the same way but youll get over it once you start scuffing it up

waxing does not protect your board from scratches.  besides, your theory there is that there is wax on the surface to act as a buffer between the base and rail, but thats not even how wax works.  wax goes inside the base, not on the surface, so thats a faulty theory on two accounts.

Wax does not protect your base from rails, boxes, wood, twigs, rocks, or any other material NOT snow. Also, for those of you that say you have crappy jib board, 90% of them have EXTRUDED bases which DO NOT absorb wax anyways so you are essentially pissing money away by waxing so much.

Next, what the hell kinda crap park are you riding if your jibs scratch your base? The only way that makes sense is either poor welds/ground welds on the jib or screws sticking out of the top of boxes. Aside from that you will not scratch your base at all.

Lastly, what constitutes a scratch to you? If it isn't worthy of P-tex filling i wouldn't be too concerned, and unless you have core exposed chances are it doesn't need p-tex.

How often do people catch an edge on rails/boxes? Thats always been something thats worried me

yeah i second that from rook its really no big deal when ur a noob it might feel like ur catching alot of the time but in most cases it is just u loosing ur balance and slapin ur face on the rail

I have gotten a couple scrapes from rails but nothing serious. I think my board has actually sustained the most damage from people in the lift line getting to antsy and slidding their skis or board under mine.

either way. you can fix any scratch with a p-touch candle.
