I got up there before 7am and didn't chain up my 2wd car... made it up without slipping or wheelspin once. 
The Caltrans up there did not do a good job during the last storm closing Hwy 2... Today it was fine. 
BUT they were telling people to put chains at the Del taco gas stop... LOL

I woke up and saw the whole mountain covered in white snow and I was so happy until I realized I had work and now the snow is mostly all melted.  Cry

East Resort on Wed morning was pretty good, same conditions, tracks covered up by blowing snow within 5-10 mins. 

What was weird was the snow was creating "waves/mini snow drifts" in the East resort runs every 10-20 ft.... about 2" tall. It was weird, not bad, just weird. 

By 10-11am it was all tracked out and today (Thursday) it was quite chopped up. Sucked with a 40lb pack. 
The bowl was almost do-able. Ski patrol did it a few times and every time got core shots.
On the chair lifts I saw so many people scraping dirt... so If you do go, stay away from the soft closures, even if it looks good (same goes for West resort, inferno ridge in particular). 
I watched about 10 people in front of me scrape their bases & edges on the thin stuff trying to be delicate getting down. I straightlined the entire run and was ok.

So i've been up there the past three days & nights...
Tuesday night... was pretty awesome! 5" of pow by 10pm... 
Your tracks would get covered up within 10 mins because of blowing snow. 
Wed MORNING Hwy 2 closed and there were only 3 rows of cars at west by 10am... conditions lasted until about 10:30 then it was all tracked out. 
Thurs.... roads all clear, hardly any snow in Wrightwood... mostly melted in town. 
The west resort is pretty good... but it's all groomed, don't expect anything more.

Just get a 4X4 or 4WD sticker and pretend that your car is four-wheel drive/all-wheel drive LOL Honestly, why would you need chains for 2-5 inches of snow?

Today kind of sucked.  The snow is melting and it's the beginning of the season.  I hope they are able to makes some more snow in the next couple of days to build everything up again.  They took out about half the features they had up and the two little jumps they had are now rollers.  With a little help from the Pine Cone of Destiny I was still able to have a good time.  All questions regarding the Pine Cone of Destiny will be ignored.

Went yesterday and it was wet and freezing... mainly cause I didn't think it was going to be that cold! Definitely not worth the drive from San Diego but riding for the first time this season felt great.

You could do that but remember that you need to take a photo @ Mt. High to get the season pass... that means a long ass drive or a flight... both of which cost a few hundred dollars

Maybe I havent though this out completely but I wonder if this going to drive up prices for a pass at MH?

If you ride at SP or maybe even at SaT (not likely since it is limited to x10) cant you just buy a MH pass for cheaper even though youre a SP local. Or is that not possible or doesn't make sense?

$600 (SP) vs $350-400 (MH) for a new pass. If i was a SP local I would buy the MH and ride that all season long and pocket the savings and sell the buddy pass for even more $

I work during the day Monday-Friday. So nights and weekends are the only times I can go. And we all know how crowded it can get on the weekends. Every now and then I can get a nice session at night, but most of the time its cold and icy. Jumps and features have big holes in the landing from people landing in it all day. I prefer day use for sure.

I really only go for nights during college night with friends 
Not a huge fan of night sessions, but if it's the only time I can ride then, I might adjust.
