Just read the article. He is joining the test team to develop the bike and figure out why Casey Stoner is the only one that can ride it. I honestly think he simply trusts the electronics way more than anyone else riding the Ducati does. Look how hard he pushes the front tire, and notice he is the only guy that the majority of his crashes are front end tucks.

Why are you knocking on Honda's middleweight? My 07 won the shootout in every magazine that year.... Or is it just the earlier models you're not fond of?

Krispy, You were smart enough to wait for the latest engine. Go ride the early one and you will hate it too. The later one is more like a damn 750 with all the power honda gave it. When they came out with the first version of the 600rr, it was pretty much to homogolate a new 600 for racing. As such, there were no concessions made for street use, or even street parts really. It doesn't do anything until you actually build the inernals a bit. Hond realized their mistake and tried to fix it in 05, then totally junked that engine and came up with the all new one that has dominated the past couple years with all its mid-range. Sorry if I wasn't clear on that, but its the 03-04 that I can't stand. Great chassis, but can't make up for the engine sucking balls. They finally gave it the engine it needed a few years later. |

yeah, the older RRs ('03-'04) handled really well. it was very nimble and i had lots of fun throwing it around. you could hammer back the throttle like nothing. i remember teaching a lot of people how to ride on an '03 RR and telling them not to be afraid of the throttle. it wouldn't hurt them that much. but when they wanted to ride my '02 GSXR600, i told them to be careful. it had quite a bit more pull (especially since a TRE was installed on it as well).
the '05 definitely had more power. too bad we sold that to some guy for DIRT cheap. the '07s also have lots of pull, but i felt its turn-in and nimble-like feel (i.e. '03 chassis) was definitely missing. |

Isn't that pretty far from you? The money you are going to spend on shipping it wouldn't make it worth it I would think. Though it is a fine bike and you could probably get it for 5k.
You really love Honda's now huh? The 05 is much better than the 03-04 though, they re-tuned the engine and give it some mid-range finally. The chassis was always pretty good on them. |

Oh, two hours isn't that bad, I need to bone up on geography.
Go for it for 5 grand. I'm not really into the tribal thing, but since its black, you don't really notice it. Way better than the yellow or orange ones for sure. When are you picking it up? |

Who the hell are you getting coverage through? Do you have a ton of tickets or something?
I asked about insurance on the aprilia and they ran it as a 1098r just to get an idea and it was 80 bucks a month, which is almost triple what I pay on the NC35 |

Why was an MV so high? They have low insurance rates. They dont get involved with many accidents, same thing with Ducati's etc. They are usually no more to insure than any other bike.

Strange, I have never heard an insurance quote that high for one of those, most I have ever heard was about 1200 a year. Bikes aren't really insured for costs as much as frequency of accidents. Expensive bikes are rarely dumped so you usually end up with lower premiums.

I don't think that will affect MV negatively at all actually. In fact, it will probably save that company. MV is made up of great engineers (something harley lacked) but has no idea how to market the most awesome sportbike on the road. Harley can sell pieces of crap for 30 grand a pop, and knows how to market anything. They don't want to mess with sportbikes themselves and have no intention of moving the plant or anything. MV needed the cash (though Harley is going broke too). In the long run, it gets us more money, better parts distribution, consistent flow of new products and designs (they have not re-designed the F4 because its so good, they simply don't have the money to) etc. Harley knows better than to dilute it. Same reason why they kept Buel totally seperate and let them do their own thing. |

Judging by the fact the majority of the posters in this thread so far are riding sportbikes, that would actually be more of an insult than anything.

First year on a new bike that still chasing suspension setup. He was running top three in the first four races. For some reason he is eating up tires though. I bet by the end of the year he is competing though.
Of course the same could be said for Ben Spies. I actually think the R1 is still chasing setup right now as well, its just Ben is riding the living crap out of that bike right now. The R1 is not doing well in any other racing series other than BSB. The teams are saying there is not enough weight over the front end and the suspension settings are a bitch to figure out. Even Sykes has not been up front until now. Makes me respect Spies that much more for going out and competing. Notice the CBR's are way faster this year than they were last year when they had problems with rear grip. It takes most of the season to iron out a totally new chassis. |

Rossi really did a mind job on Biaggi, that was sad and funny at the same time. Did the same thing to Gibernau a couple years ago as well.
He needs to take 5k, or you can just find something else. Tons of bikes out there, be patient. |

I wouldn't even use either right now, the economy has made both useless. an 05 Ducati 999s has a NADA value of 15k right now, you can buy one for 9 grand, 10 tops.

Lookin great for me!!!!!! 72 and no rain. Trying to ride solo tomorrow, but looking online, there are a bunch of newbie rides scheduled all over. Trying to figure out a route I want to take, thinking about hitting the Oregon coast and getting a piece of Highway 101.

When I get home in July, I'm thinking of heading east (Oregon/Washington). I'm thinking a mixture of SR-14 for the fun, and I-84 for the scenery. I'd like to get a few riders on this one. The only hook-up I have is through PNWriders and a few friends that ride. I guess that's not bad since they usually supply a big turnout - especially if it's on a weekend.
I know that's still a couple of months out, but just thinking and talking about it helps with a momentary escape.
Steve.

Yeah, we can get a ride going for that one. You know everyone on PNWriders is going to bitch about taking 84 back though, most of them would probably rather jump back over and take 14 up into washington more, or go back the way we got out there. Or could head around Hood and come back through Sandy.

WTF Geo? You are thinking of an FZ1 now? How do you go from looking at 600SS bikes and then come up with that? Yet say you don't want a Liter? Is this so your GF can ride with you?
If thats the case, look for an Aprilia Falco, Honda VFR or even a Busa' |

New BMW liter killer. Supposedly 10hp up on every other bike out there, ABS and traction control standard and priced near the japanese.
I was hoping for something a little more unique looking, but will hold judgement until someone rides it. ![]() |

I thought of 84 because Mulnomah Falls. I would rather ride 14 myself too, which is why I mentioned it. Geographically speaking, I know little about anything east of Hood River, so I don't know of many options. I was just throwing that out there....

We can take the old scenic highway to Multnomah falls. It runs parallel to 84, in fact, its a better view because its elevated and more in the trees. Plus that takes us by rooster rock and about five other smaller waterfalls that nobody seems to mention because they all go to Multnomah.
The only downside is the road is very narrow, if you get caught behind a motorhome going 20, there is almost no way of getting past. |
