I've always wondered what perks you get from working at a resort during the winter season. There's gotta be other things than the snow. Can anyone shed some light on this? |

free season pass is the biggest thing
also at some resorts they do ticket exchange programs where employees can ride at other mountain for free and vice versa for other mountain employees.discounts on all gear in the shop as well as food. and i know at my mountain they have a thing where the employees can pick (i think) 4 people and those 4 people get really discounted passes, like half off i think. those are ones i can think of right now. theres prolly more. like knowing people in the rental shop you can just drop in and pck up some rental gear for a friend or wax your board for free, small stuff ike that. |

Up here you get a free season pass. If I lived just a little bit closer to the resort I would do it but probably get my EMT and grab a patrol spot.

What is sweet if you are a EMT, I know a few Mt that will let you ski free if you carry a radio and respond to calls if you get them. But I think that is mostly for smaller Mts. |

SHEEZ! I'm going to blame it on the summer blahs. I'm ashamed to admit it... I forgot too.

On top of the snow when Mother Nature Delivers and living where everyone else takes vacation... You end up with always having a crew to ride with no matter if your into park or freeriding or backcountry.
Discounts on Avalanche Courses is one perk that some resorts will have, the Unrestricted Season Pass is usually a given if you work all the Holidays and each resort is different as far as hookups, but as the Visas are getting more difficult for international employees to get, resorts are finding new ways to motivate domestic people to work as employees in Seasonal Positions. The ability to be on your snowboard over 100 days does not happen unless you are living at or near (less than an Hour) from the mountains!! This should be the milestone goal for any core rider! |

When I was younger I worked at a few resorts. I got to the point where I'd rather pay my way than deal with the mountain as an employer.

I agree with doug...you become friends with the mountain!
On any given day you can stumble to the chairlift by yourself and join anyone of your friends.
It is great enjoying the different styles of snowboarding people from all over the world bring to the mountain
