I am a Cert II instructor and admittedly biased, but I think it's great. It has helped my teaching and my personal riding to a level that I didn't think possible. I've only been in 2 years and thinking of my III this winter, but unknown.
It is also a great way to get to know other pros if you are in to that sort of thing. I've made great friends across many mountains that I can ride with and that is worth its weight in gold. The step from I to II is significant ... and II to III even more so. I say go for your I ... see what you think ... and then figure out if you are up to do your II and beyond. Also check your mountain for scholarships. At Mt. Snow we have the Coop Foundation which funds pros to get AASI PSIA Certs. PM if you want to talk more... or we can do it on the thread ... any other AASI peeps here

I'm in the same spot as board to death. Did AASI II last year (my 2nd year.) Going through the process has definately made me a better rider/instructor. I've made a couple good friends, and it has definately helped me out with work. The level one exam is actually a ton of fun..I think EVERYONE learns something new there. All that said, it is a financial commitment. I agreee with board though, go do Level I...you'll have a great time, and have a much better idea if its something you want to pursue. board were you at the level II exam at killington last spring? |

Also you thinking of doing your 3? 50-50 on it. It was a lot training last year, and I am not sure I am even close to being able to pass, but at the same time, what the hell, I might just get lucky.
Where do you teach? Perhaps we can get some turns in.

I work at Sugarbush...wasnt in your group though. I had Mark, Holly, and i forget who on the last day.
I put in a ton of training last year, and was happy to pass LII, but dont feel ready for the III. (a friend of mine who is an outstanding rider/instructor took it and i got the day by day on it.) where do you work? |

I work at Mt. Snow. Holly is a trainer at my mountain and a very good friend of mine.
I want to see how my riding / teaching is this year. I am joining the Education Staff as a trainer so that will help me get guiding some upper level clinics in this year. I also know I have to work on rotational movements to get going. Perhaps I will see you at LIII prep anyway? Just to see what you can put down on the snow?
