So I am seeing all these other states in our area making posts but no one from our state, Im pretty sure we have the highest amount of resorts here. So if youre from michigan its time to sound off and tell what your hometown resort is!

yeah it doesnt matter how many people you get, just divide by your number, say you want 6 for 1 and theyll give you them and you all split the cost. Most the time if you you dont have enought people you can sell the extra(s) to people who are by themselves or a couple lol. Last year we bought 12 and there were only 5 of us and sold them all away for 15 bucks and made all out money plus lunch back! |

That would be dope. Im just not sure if i want to drive all the way up there and then drive back the same night. normally I would just sleep in the car, but 4+ guys in a car loaded w/ gear after riding all day?? not so sure about that one. on the other hand it is Boyne and would definitely beat bittersweet.

yo its kinda unusual to say this but swiss valley's park is going to be very good.
marks gone alittle overboard and created a 14, 30 and 45ft jump thats huge and the rails are really nicely built this year. |

Alpine definitely has the best park in SE lower MI. Brighton is a close second. I grew up in Brighton and that's where I learned to ride so I do have a soft spot for it. Mostly been riding at Holly and hating my life.
Do any of you have the MSIA White Gold Cards? $189 for one ticket at 28 resorts. My boyfriend and I got these last year and it was great to travel the whole state and check all the different resorts. White Gold info. We picked them up this year as well... hoping to make it to the UP for a week or so. Definitely a great pick up if you have the cash/spare time to travel around. Especially since a season pass at any of the hills in the south are $450+. |

I'm from Grand Rapids and ride Caberfae and Boyne Mt.... and subject myself to Cannonsburg a few times a year to torture myself (for some reason). I'm going to Crystal Mt and Nubs Nob a few times this year. I got a season pass for Mt. Bohemia.. to do some real ridin' a few time this year.

Mike D - Ever make it down to Bittersweet? My boyfriend's cousins live in KZoo so we make a weekend of it once a season. They usually put up some decent park features and they get some nice lake effect snow. Last year we got hit by about 6" of powder in first 2 hours we were there...
I'm sure the drive is shorter than up to Caberfae and Boyne. I just checked your profile and noticed the pic of the Gnar-V! I was up at Shanty Creek last year when I saw it. Pretty sure it was the weekend they were hosting a Huck Finn comp. Pretty sweet ride. |

icechickay,
I haven't been there since my skiing days. I've definatley been thinking about it w/ all the snow bands setting up in that area. U are correct.. the drive is shorter. But I use my stufdent ID to get discount lift tix at Caberfae on mondays, wend and Fri.. so it's worth it.. most of the time The Gnar-v is pretty sweet!!! I wanted to talk to the owner.. but didn't see them. |

I'm from Lansing. Regularly I go to the closet resorts around me like the modest hills Mt. Holly and Cannonsburg. I went to Boyne for the 6 for 1 deal on the 19th.

Hey guys, I live in The Ann Arbor area and I mostly go to Alpine Valley in White Lake, though I do go to Mt. Holly and Brighton if my buddies want to go there. I've also been to Caberfae, Bittersweet, and Shanty Creek.
Right now I'm going to school at Michigan Tech in Houghton way up in the U.P. We get pounded almost everyday and all students have free admission to Mont Ripley across the canal. Also, planning on hitting up Mount Bohemia a few times ths year as it is only an hour away from campus.

Mt. Holly is almost not worth going to. It's too easy to sneak in, and the runs are short. It's a good place if you get in for free, but I would rather go to Boyne. I am from Michigan, but I don't live there anymore. I was in the military, and it dragged me away from the state. I will be coming back there to visit next year, so if anyone is up for it, we can plan a trip somewhere in MI and meet up.

I rode at Holly yesterday and yeah, it's not the best, but it's only 15 minutes away from me. The park is fairly terrible so far this year, only 2 decent kickers and 2 decent rails. The other kickers were either super slow or terribly built. Had a lot of fun on Mogul Mania though.
Brighton, Pine Knob, and Alpine are less than 30 minutes from me, so I'll definitely be going to all of them in the next month. I might post dates/times if anyone is local and wants to meet up. My boyfriend and I will also be heading up north of the Z-Bridge soon to all the bigger hills, so I'll definitely post those in the "Meet Up" section to see if we can get a decent group to ride with. Sometimes it's a last minute decision to head up there, but I'll try to post at least two or three days in advance. XxTRCxX, let me know when you're back in state and want to ride. We'll meet up with you for sure. |

I went two years ago. The day was just ridiculous from the moment we packed the truck up and left Flint.
We ended up getting up there around 2 pm Saturday cause of severe car problems (a tire decided it didn't want to make the trip with us and busted off around Grayling) so we didn't get to do much riding since they close down the lifts at 4:30. But that's ok cause we weren't really there to ride. We were greeted in the parking lot by two State Cops who seemed a bit buzzed up... and they encouraged us to shotgun beers for their entertainment. I thought it was a trick to hand out tickets, but no, they were just the coolest cops I've ever encountered. It was pretty packed all around, everyone was blasted. The village area was shoulder to shoulder crowds, but not much of a wait to get on the lift. More shotgunning beers with random folks. The area under the Mountain Express lift looked like it was paved over with beer cans. Everyone's super friendly... more than a few people let me take drags from their camelbacks. Mmmm cheap whiskey and flat Coke! There's a huge party at the Halfway House on-hill. You'll likely see a fair amount of female nudity there. You'll also find the scent of strong bud in the air. By 3pm, everyone's so wasted that you can get away with almost anything. If you haven't figured out, it's BYOB and I strongly encourage you to bring a backpack and at least a dirty 30 of your favorite beer and a few flasks. I had a few friends that stayed at Boyne in the condos while my group stayed at their house in Boyne Falls. Apparently the condos are ridiculous, but we found the bars downtown to be pretty rowdy... and $1 PBR! I'm a big fan of drinking in excess so that week is sure to be epic. Are you planning on staying at Boyne? |

What part of Ontario? Which border crossing would you be using?
FYI - Everything decent in MI is up toward the northwest portion of the LP or in the UP. |

Thanks for the good info. We are to late to get a spot at Boyne. Since you mentioned the parties downtown we will now try and book downtown Petoskey. Is that where you meant? I am going to book within the next couple days. It's a bummer the slopes close at 4:30 sat. it seems like it so big of a party by then, they don't want anybody boarding. We are going to do boyne highlands on sunday to make up for it. we'll have all the party goods. My buddy is a raging partier so you'll probably get along splendid. It seems like so much fun, the resort telling you to bring all your party favors to the hill and have a good time. when it is getting closer to the event you can pm me or visa versa and maybe meet up for a drink on the slope.

I stayed at a friend's house downtown Boyne Falls 2 years ago... but we will definitely be staying in Petoskey this year. The Econolodge is the place to be. Usually around $50 a night, right across the street from the Odawa casino, indoor pool/hot tub, outside facing rooms (don't want to be stankin up any hallways), plus they give out 1/2 off casino buffet coupons and $5 free money per person/per day. The casino shuttle will take you just about anywhere in town, although I'm not sure if they'll be doing Boyne runs this particular weekend. It's about a 20 minute drive from the hotel to Boyne's parking lot.
We haven't booked a room yet, so I really hope they're not full. I'll call and get the scoop tomorrow. We'll definitely have to exchange info and meet up. It really is crazy up there. You never hear of a resort telling you to BYOB! |

Give that site a look... for anything decent and not made on top of garbage, you need to look west of I-75. More specifically, either Boyne Mt. or Highlands and Shanty Creek. Once you cross the border at Port Huron/Sarnia, you're looking at about 4 hours of driving to get to any of those places. There's also Mt. Bohemia way up in the UP and I hear that's pretty intense. A few members here just had a meet up there last month. You'd be looking at one hell of a drive though. About 10 1/2 hours from Port Huron if you drive through Michigan. |

There are still openings at the econo lodge. I'm gonna book there today as well. I'm getting ready to leave for Mt. Holly in a hour, who knows how much longer it'll be open. I'll post when I get back to where I got reservations.

Dang, some friends and I are heading to highlands next weekend. Sounds like we should've waited another week. Oh well, time to try out the new gear I got on sale and use my free burton lift ticket.
Hopefully they still have some snow up there in a week with the way the weather's been going. |

I've got a room booked at econo lodge. On the bottom floor, facing outside so I don't smoke anyone out. We'll probably roll into town late Friday night. I've only stayed at the days inn up there, this place looks a little better. They showed pics of indoor swimming pool.
Mt.Holly was packed today with kids practicing for the contest tomorrow. There were some guys and girls going big. They built that new slope style course down the canyon run about two weeks ago. All the stuff has been moved around, there is a lot of room for improvement. The old quarter pipe area is down to dirt and grass. I practiced riding switch and some ground tricks all day. I only just started riding beginner park features, having returned to snowboardin' this year after a very long time. The beginner park at boyne is perfect for me. Crazy Dayz should be a great way to end the season and start spring. I'll keep a look out for your post to see if you get reservation.

I just had to cancel reservations. My buddy backed out after some things came up, but the weather played a factor to. With it already spring now my season has started up and I have to get equip. and trucks ready for work. When I was up there the first week in March the conditions were horrible. It was more like ice boarding. I am really bummed about winter ending early here. Even if it gets cold again I doubt will have the snow along with it. I'll have to wait for next year to experience crazy dayz.

Boyne Mountain is still open. 6 lifts, 20 trails. I checked out the webcam and it looks pretty sparse, but they've been blowing snow every night.
You can check out current conditions here. They're doing reduced spring prices so you can get a pass from 9 am til 4:30 for $25. |

Nubs Nob is still open as well. Of course the glades are closed considering we haven't had snow in a month to six weeks. But I'm back to work and pretty busy so I can't justify a 9 hour round trip plus all the $ in gas for my Triton V8, lift ticket, etc. I only have Sundays to myself now and I just can't squeeze a trip in. I've thought about it over and over again but just can't make it up one last time.
