sick i'll be posting stuff up all this winter. i need to dust off the old camera and start working on stuff
Sierra User Name: Zagfan5 Home Resort: Mt Spokane, WA Years Snowboarding: 5 Average number of days Snowboarding each year: 60-70 Favorite Snowboard Setup: (Board & Binding) Current setup is sierra crew (oh 10) and some old ltd poncho villa burton missions that i will ride till they break or are no longer rideable. favorite setup of all time i have ridden was the mission poncho bindings, and my (09) palmer andy finch (r.i.p.) Favorite Snowboard Trick: Frontside nose butter Your Best Experience Snowboarding: By far my best experience was when i came down to Tahoe last season for bruizzapalooza. just hanging with everyone and having a good time was great, but the cherry on top was waking up sunday morning to all that pow. literally speechless hearing them do the avy blasts and seeing how a big time resort really works(me being from a smaller mountain) What makes you most want to go to HCSC this Summer: I feel like I'm on the brink of really breaking out and pushing my skills to the next level and i would really benefit from the coaching and progression that goes on at hood during the summer. Why should you win the HCSC Summer Camp Session: I hate to pull the whole "i'm a poor college student" but honestly i am. I saved up all spring last year to drive to hood last summer with a few buddies and shred for a day and it was one of the best days of riding in my life. everyone was throwing down, it was super warm out and we were riding, in the summer! i'm working 2 jobs right now to put myself though college (bellman at a hotel and snowboard instructor) and i dont have a whole lot of wiggle room as far as "unnecessary" expenses go, so i know if i do go back to hood this upcoming summer it would just be for a day or two like last summer. Theres no way i could ever afford to go to camp at hood until i'm out of college unless it was covered by someone else. What is your biggest snowboard goal/dream: My biggest snowboard/life goal right now is to get my degree in ski resort operations and management (Transferring up to Nelson, BC in August to start that degree) and own a ski resort of my own. as far as just snowboard goals go, my goal every season is to get a minimum of 50 days of shredding, as well as just enjoying every single day on the hil. Whether its a park day, a pow day, or just a day were mobbin around the whole mountain with our crew, Just make it all fun. |

Home Resort:Smugglers Notch vermont Years Snowboarding:3(only 2 in the park) Average number of days Snowboarding each year:50 Favorite Snowboard Setup: (Board & Binding) Right now, 2009 Nitro Swindle 145, 2010 Union Contacts. Favorite Snowboard Trick: Frontside Boardslide Your Best Experience Snowboarding: Waking up to almost a foot and a half of pow and getting first tracks. What makes you most want to go to HCSC this Summer: BEing able to shred the most I can in one year. I also think i am starting to peak, cause of riding with a lot better kids and shredding as much and as hard as i can. Why should you win the HCSC Summer Camp Session: I should win this because I am someone who is addicated to snowboarding and cant stop thinking about it, having an oppertunity like this would make me such a better rider, and open up a lot more doors. And be able to meet new people. And my family dosent have to much money and my dad lives out in California, this would just be a great expirence. What is your biggest snowboard goal/dream: To make it somewhere in snowboarding I would love to be a pro, but in all reality that probally wont happen, So i would love to just be involved with the industry, work for a company, or a mountain and make an impact on kids, like other people did for me. |

Contest Entry Info:
Be thorough in your entry information. You only need to submit the entry info in your first thread post. Sierra User Name: Loveski Home Resort: Holiday Valley Years Snowboarding: 11 Average number of days Snowboarding each year: 70-80ish Favorite Snowboard Setup: (Board & Binding) This year I would havee to say my Stepchild Jibstick 153 with Union Forces Favorite Snowboard Trick: I love any kind of jibbing, and who doesn't love a big back one? Your Best Experience Snowboarding: I don't know about my whole life, but this year my best and worst experience happened at the same time. I was riding with a bunch of friends having a great time. I felt my phone vibrating and I figured I would answer it after I hit this last rail. Well, I got the cleanest back lip on a single bar urban rail and was stoked and then I checked my phone..It was my grandma calling telling me that my mom had just had a seizure and to get back to the house as soon as possible. When we got to the hospital and all the tests were done we were told that her already uncurable cancer had spread to her brain. That was about five days ago and I'm still sitting in the hospital. What makes you most want to go to HCSC this Summer: I have wanted to go to high cascade for the past three years, and I think I've watched all the hcsc edits,it just seems so fun. I don't think I will ever get the chance to experience it, unless I were to be lucky enough to win something like this. Why should you win the HCSC Summer Camp Session: I think I should win this because I have had to endure so much in just my short 16 year life. There have been so many challenges with the thing that I value the most, which is family. At three years old my mom (who is byfar my best friend) was diagnosed with breast cancer. Ten years later, when I was 13, it metastisized to her bone. Now it is in her brain. The second most thing I value is snowboarding. It's beyond me how people can ever get sick of snowboarding. I live in the east so if it's 10 below and a sheet of ice out there, you bet I'll be out there and there is no other place I'd rather be. What is your biggest snowboard goal/dream: No matter what it is I do in life, I just want to support my love of snowboarding. If I could ride as much as I do now for the rest of my life, I think it would be complete. My friends and will be making edits so I'll be sure to post them here. |

yeah it was insanely sketchy. the pipe is just sitting on the cooler. so your had to balance and be right in the middle or the pipe would start to roll left or right.
nonetheless a good time |

Sierra User Name: deepakhj Home Resort: Sierra at Tahoe and Heavenly Years Snowboarding: Since 2000.. but out for a season due to a broken wrist... 2 surgeries... out for school... and I think 06-07 it didn't snow in Tahoe past February. Average number of days Snowboarding each year: 50 now... use to be 20 Favorite Snowboard Setup: (Board & Binding) 09 Never Summer SL-R and 09 K2 Formulas... this setup is rock solid for everything Favorite Snowboard Trick: I liked stalling on pipes and spinning off them Your Best Experience Snowboarding: One year we got almost 10 feet of snow in Tahoe. Two cats tried to bring gas up to Sierra and they both got stuck. So they couldn't open the Grandview chair but Sugar and Spice was groomed. A buddy and I hiked from mid mountain to the top and got some of the deepest and sweetest lines I've ever ridden without a soul in sight. Now it's not the craziest run or terrain I've ridden but it was my 3rd season and it was one of the most blissful runs of my life. What makes you most want to go to HCSC this Summer: I really want to get spins dialed on kickers and not little baby stuff. I feel like i've hit a road block in my trick progression and once I get over the hump the skys the limit. I also think seeing myself on video and having someone point out what I'm doing right or wrong will help me a lot. Why should you win the HCSC Summer Camp Session: I'm always teaching beginners and getting new people interested in snowboarding so I think if you send me to the camp you'd impact a lot more people than just myself! What is your biggest snowboard goal/dream: I think my biggest dream right now is to go to Alaska. But seriously, just being able to throw 3s frontside and backside off medium jumps with style would be sweet.

Sierra User Name: airjesse123 Home Resort: ![]() Years Snowboarding: Average number of days Snowboarding each year: to ![]() Favorite Snowboard Setup: (Board & Binding) 2008 Burton Un..Inc ICS and 2009 Burton Cartel EST Favorite Snowboard Trick: Boxslide ![]() Your Best Experience Snowboarding: This would be last year at Kirkwood. The snow was stacked high and the lift lines were short. Untracked powder was all over the hill and there was plenty of terrain for my friend and I to stomp on. ![]() What makes you most want to go to HCSC this Summer: We all know the snow season is all too short. I feel like at this point in my snowboarding career, I am either going to get really good this year or just keep on keepin on. I really want to do the former. The ability to get some snow days in this summer will allow me to keep at my goals and get better. Also, I think Oregon is a beautiful place and being able to see it snow covered in the summer would be fantastic! ![]() Why should you win the HCSC Summer Camp Session: This June I end my undergraduate career and leave to start my life in the real world. I would love to have one last hurrah before I set off on my career or start grad school. What is your biggest snowboard goal/dream:
This summer: attend an HCSC session and work on my snowboard skills This season: get the confidence to get bigger air, do grabs and spins Next season: get the confidence (and the protection) to to more and bigger terrain park features Sometime: get the confidence in myself to bomb mountains and keep up with anyone |

CalvaryCougar Home Resort: Perfect North Years Snowboarding: 6 or 7 Average number of days Snowboarding each year: not sure probably around 40 Favorite Snowboard Setup: (Board & Binding) ride crush + ride beta movement bindings Favorite Snowboard Trick: method Your Best Experience Snowboarding: went to utah and got a foot of powder. That was my first time hitting powder because i snowboard in indiana What makes you most want to go to HCSC this Summer: Being able to learn new tricks from coachs and just seeing setups that look awesome Why should you win the HCSC Summer Camp Session: first off i am a college student who wouldnt be able to afford the flight and camp expenses. Also i live in ohio and the closest hill is perfect north with a vertical drop of probably 300ft, so i dont live near any big resorts so a trip like this would be a blast. Ive also only been out west twice to park city and really liked it. also i really think it would be cool to snowboard in the summer. What is your biggest snowboard goal/dream: Find a way to tell people who ski/snowboard about Jesus Christ. |

im not entering, and i dont deserve something like this nearly as much as that eager kid out there who just wants to snowboard and progress and has a great attitude about it, probably younger and still in school before their first job.. or someone who doesnt get lots of great riding during their season and cant afford to travel or move... so on and so forth. i just like the survey right now. Home Resort: eaglecrest, ak... home of lando! Years Snowboarding: this is my 12th season. Average number of days Snowboarding each year: for the past few years, about 60-70 Favorite Snowboard Setup: (Board & Binding) for all around riding, theres yet to be a more fitting and natural feeling board for me than the 2010 capita indoor fk 158.. and ive had at least one pair of union forces every year since year two.. ive yet to find a binding that fits my style/preferences better. for pow, i think ill always have a burton fish with s-rocker in my quiver, also with forces or force SLs, and something like a capita charlie slasher or burton malolo, 20mm taper with rocker on the nose. Favorite Snowboard Trick: riding like nicolas muller.. pow ollies, slashes, and big back 180 japans, all in the most natural, beautiful terrain. Your Best Experience Snowboarding: a deep pow day riding solo during the season optimistic was filmed (07).. nicolas mullers whole first part in that movie with the bluegrass music is filmed at my home mountain eaglecrest.. riding my burton malolo doing what i now call "the malolo run." in a nutshell, a handful of awesome natural features packed into a killer line, riding just like nicolas. that day honestly changed my life. that is the experience that stands out more than any other.. the way i felt is indescribable, beyond just riding a snowboard. What makes you most want to go to HCSC this Summer: im not actually entering, but going there would be a killer fun time. just watch the airblaster movie "august" to see why. it would also be a totally different type of lifestyle day.. fun in the sun in the slushy parks hangin with the bros, hiking little features.. as opposed to being in the mountains/backcountry riding pow and smiling from all the face shots with your bros. Why should you win the HCSC Summer Camp Session: i shouldnt. What is your biggest snowboard goal/dream:
keep living the life for the rest of my life. one of the things that malolo day did for me was really clicking it into my brain that all i needed was the simple things.. to make a simple living doing something i love, and being able to snowoboard real mountains with natural snow many days a year. |

Home Resort: Don't have one. I live Oklahoma and have to drive 8+ hours Red River 3x, Keystone 2x, and Santa Fe once but headed there in March for a couple of days. Years Snowboarding: 6 Average number of days Snowboarding each year: 3 Favorite Snowboard Setup: (Board & Binding) My 09 Dominant with 08 Burton Dooms is my only set up. Dream Setup - Custom Vrock with some malavitas Favorite Snowboard Trick: That I can currently do = bs 360 That I want to do = switch fs boardslide or a lazy 3 off of a big kicker Your Best Experience Snowboarding: Last weak at Red River, NM. I got really comfortable riding switch and hit the bs 3 several times. What makes you most want to go to HCSC this Summer: More days of riding, a new mountain, watching and learning from real people who actually knowing what they are doing (no more youtube), learning how to get up confidence to hit the big kickers, and learning how to properly hit rails Why should you win the HCSC Summer Camp Session: I'm eager to learn, don't get many days, and I think it would be awesome the next time I send in my resume to a church I would to be able to put on there that I have thrown and landed a backflip on a snowboard.
What is your biggest snowboard goal/dream: To move to the rockies, start some type of ministry or church program on a mountain, and ride with my wife. |

Years Snowboarding: 5 years but only like 70 days
Average number of days Snowboarding each year: Now - 20 - 30
Favorite Snowboard Setup: (Board & Binding) Ride Kink 159 with K2 Auto
Favorite Snowboard Trick: fs 5 and fs 270 lip 270 out
Your Best Experience Snowboarding: Riding with my roomate(a truckee local) having fun and learning new tricks.
What makes you most want to go to HCSC this Summer: I have wanted to go to high cascade since I started. Just being able to ride in the summer is so sick. Every flatlanders dream.
Why should you win the HCSC Summer Camp Session: Well, I wont be able to snowboard this year because of injury. On Dec 23rd I was hitting a homemade box, trying a switch 270 board. I fell on my hip. Went through the holidays. Then had to go in at 12am christmas night. Had emergency surgery because I had busted an artery that bled into my gluteal tissue. I'm out of snowboarding for 12-16 months.
Winning this would give me more than the four days of riding I've gotten this year.
What is your biggest snowboard goal/dream: Have fun and learn new tricks.

Riding in NC usually means riding on little real snow and mostly ice. Riding in real fluffy, heavenly powder was a like dreaming. What makes you most want to go to HCSC this Summer: I have picked up shredding very quickly but never get the chance to really push myself due to horrible snow, by snow i mean ice, conditions. But would definitely like to work on making my skills better. Starting off the season with a broken hand has held me back a little bit, but already have 12 days on the slopes and looking forward to more. Why should you win the HCSC Summer Camp Session: I've never been out west before so it would be a great travel experience. Also I would love to hit up the slopes out west but will have to wait til I graduate from Clemson before I have the money to do that. For spring break I am going to Vermont to ride for a week, which will pretty much empty my bank account, but will be worth it. What is your biggest snowboard goal/dream: I would like to use my degree in mechanical engineering and design snowboards. Living alot closer to the slopes would be nice too

What makes you most want to go to HCSC this Summer: Having pro's and am's who are better than me teach me new tricks and how to improve my old tricks! Why should you win the HCSC Summer Camp Session: Because I have been wanting this since I started riding. Now I'm 28 and about to get married...I'm getting to old (and too broke...weddings are expensive!) to put it off any longer! Years Snowboarding:

Average number of days Snowboarding each year:
20
Favorite Snowboard Setup: (Board & Binding)
Park: Burton Stria ICS + Escapade EST bindings
All Mtn: Feelgood ES + Lexa bindings
Favorite Snowboard Trick:
Butt-side Boob slide. Yep, that's what I said. How to perform this trick:
1. Approach an ollie-on box
2. Purposefully under-ollie
3. Enjoy the shock through your body, as the nose of your board hits the front of the box
4. Skillfully follow the forward momentum of your upper body and slam your chest onto the box
5. The rest of your body and board will follow
6. Arch your back to give your butt-in-the-air some steeze
Your Best Experience Snowboarding:
Kirkwood Cup Competition. Its an event at Kirkwood that hosted a series of snowboarding and skiing competitions throughout the winter season. Each competition was unique (rail jam, all-mountain, boarder cross, etc) and you earn points by placing in each event. The person with the most points at the end of the series was the Kirkwood Cup Champion and received a pot of money. Even if you did not come close to winning, there were a lot of free gifts for all participants. Although I was quite beginner and did not win the cup (placed third in womens; yay!), the event really pushed me to progress in ALL areas of snowboarding. I was proud of my progress, but also humbled by all the other competitors who had great technique and skills, and demonstrated how much more I could improve.
What makes you most want to go to HCSC this Summer:
There is only so much you can learn and do from watching snowboarding videos, reading how-to pamphlets, and imitating your friends. I would love to go to HCSC because proper instruction of technique is absolutely KEY to laying down the foundation to better riding. I believe that the all-day, personalized instruction, professional video review, and exposure to other motivated females, like myself, will really take my riding to another level.
Why should you win the HCSC Summer Camp Session:
Oh boy, that's the hardest question. Everyone on this thread deserves to win, because we all obviously love to snowboard and we love to support Sierra Snowboards. I think I should win because I am the most gung-ho and motivated female snowboarder I know among my peers. I want to advance my skills and show those boys at Northstar's park, that girls can shred too (and in blinger clothing). Another reason I would like to receive formal instruction from HCSC is that I love to teach. I enjoy teaching beginner snowboarders, kids and adults, and I find that the transfer of knowledge and technique is so much clearer when you've received instruction from a coach yourself. My friend volunteers at Northstar to coach and mentor underprivileged youth. I think I would like to do that someday.
What is your biggest snowboard goal/dream:
OK, let's be realistic here. I'm not a pro and will likely never be able to compete in the X-games or Olympics (but I really do dream about such grandeur, seriously, I do). Realistically, my goal is to become good enough to drop via helicopter onto one of those wondrous mountains packed with untouched snow and just absorb the bliss of total freedom and extreme exhilaration!!
This youtube video is from last season at Heavenly. I finally had the guts to do rails.

Sierra User Name: KMorrison Home Resort: Killington Mountain, VT / Big Boulder, PA Years Snowboarding: 1 and 1/2 Average number of days Snowboarding each year: 43 last season and 14 this season thus far Favorite Snowboard Setup: (Board & Binding) Capita Stairmaster 152 w/ Union Forces Favorite Snowboard Trick: Backside 540 Melon or Nose Press Tail Taps Your Best Experience Snowboarding: Going on a trip with 2 of my good buddies to Salt Lake City and waking up on the last day to a foot and a half of fresh powder and just getting face shots all day long while scorpioning because we all refused to switch up our centered park stances. What makes you most want to go to HCSC this Summer: My peers. Over the short time I've ridden, I've have the chance to share the lift and the mountain with a handful of amazingly talented individuals and it has inspired me to want to push myself beyond my current limits. I've woken up some days barely able to walk but I still can wear the biggest smile on my face knowing that I just did something I love so much with some of my favorite people. Why should you win the HCSC Summer Camp Session: I know that as a 24 year old snowboarder I'm well beyond the possibility of going pro or making a career out of it. However, I've recently had a switch of careers, from a photo editing desk job with a large corporate entity to a non-profit program coordinator position with a significantly smaller organization, which has made me think even more about the future and as the result I think that I'd thoroughly enjoy serving the snowboard community as a freestyle coach. Being that my skills are currently limited, I feel it'd be necessary to develop my understanding of snowboard and its many technical aspects prior to taking on a position such as this.. What is your biggest snowboard goal/dream: My snowboarding dreams are actually very attainable...I know that I won't be able to do it necessarily right now but somewhere down the line I'd love to ride professional backcountry lines out in Europe. I have a large amount of family there that I've never met and I think it would be nothing more than magical to combine those two elements into one memorable experience.

So, Tahoe has been in the midst of an epic storm. As the scared and the weak gathered their young and started their long journey by camel to safer grounds, Phil, Giftedhands, and Jigglypuff braved the elements, conquered waves of nature's bitter tears, and then found refuge in a hut where they shared stories of past victories over beer and hot chocolate. Epic!! ![]() Phil and Jiggly divided the oceans of snow with their skillz and were protected by their mighty exoskeleton! Their presence was steamy...

all honesty, I am not sure. I love goofing off in the park, rails and jumps. Your Best Experience Snowboarding: We have pretty strange weather out here so one day towards
the end of last season the weather got pretty warm and the snow began to
evaporate right off the ground. This had to be the coolest thing my friends and
I experienced. We were riding at night and could only see about 3 feet in front
of us at times even though the lights were shining. Unreal. What makes you most want to go to HCSC this Summer: Living in Ohio and snowboarding is not too great to begin
with due to the excessively long off season and lack of real hills. However, the reason I want to go so bad is to make up
for my lost season this year. First week of my home resort opening up and my 4th
time out this season I took a nasty spill and fractured my spine. On the 17th
of December we were on our last run of the night, finishing up with some fun in
the park. I went down first and something went wrong, obviously, I wasn’t
really “in it” and yeah…the rest is history. The potential for paralysis was
relatively high so I had to be transferred to a trauma center and undergo surgery
in order to stabilize the vertebrae. 5 days in the hospital, 4 x-rays, 3 cat
scans, 2 ambulance rides, 1 surgery and my season is over. I now have 7 huge
pieces of metal in my back and a 6 inch scar down my spine. So, yeah, sorry for
the lengthiness, I just hope it explains my lack of photo and video posting
since I won’t really have any opportunity to be taking/making them. Why should you win the HCSC Summer Camp Session: Through this whole crappy experience I am worried I have
kind of lost my confidence in snowboarding. I was always one to have absolutely
no inhibitions, but look were that landed me! So yeah, HCSC seems to be the
perfect opportunity to get me back on my board and regain the confidence that I
lost in my accident. Plus make up for losing a potentially great season. What is your biggest snowboard
goal/dream: Well after college I hope to move
out west, probably Colorado, and teach snowboarding. If not that at least
snowboarding safety so I can prevent others from what I had to go through. |

I started when I was 14 Average number of days Snowboarding each year: 45 Favorite Snowboard Setup: (Board & Binding) 2010 Burton blunt w/ burton freestyle bindings Favorite Snowboard Trick: backside rodeo. Your Best Experience Snowboarding: I always have fun with the friends that go boarding with me, but a couple weeks ago i got to attend a camp where Pat Milberry was coaching. I was able to meet him and he gave me a few tips. We hit a few jumps and rails and he gave me some good compliments. What makes you most want to go to HCSC this Summer: I love their videos. All the people seem to enjoy life and have fun. Their sense of humor and creativity inspire me to try new things. I love to skateboard and trampoline also. The competitions and dodgeball games are sick. Why should you win the HCSC Summer Camp Session: I live in a small, midwestern town in southern wisconsin, but we only have a few smaller hills here. I practice alot with homemade rails and jumps. I love the idea of getting the chance to see and ride real mountains. I would like to ride and train with the coaching teams there. I have a funny spirit and like to try lots of difficult tricks. I think I would fit in well and progress to become a better rider. What is your biggest snowboard goal/dream: I would love to continue to have fun riding and meet lots of other riders. With a little help, I would like to progress far enough to get sponsored or become pro. This might be the best chance I get. |
