OK, here's my question:
Sometimes I'll strap in on a flat area and need to "waddle" over to the slope. When waddling, should I be using my toe edge or my heel edge to move forward?

Thanks. I figured it was easier on the toe edge (kinda like walking on tip toes) but was afraid it would be more likely to catch that edge and fall on my face, so I tried on my heel and I wasn't really getting anywhere!

Its also a lot easier if you have a flexy board, but if you are like me and you don't.. I found that if I set my bindings wider apart I can waddle way better. |

Do you think you could specify weight shifting and such for each stance goofy and regular?

I would enjoy that also. I was just thinking about going out tonight and making a few things in my backyard. Not really any clue how to build it soundly. |

It would be the same no matter the foot, just the opposite. I don't think goofy or regs move differently, the motions are the same.

Yes, building a ramp in your backyard or the back country from which to jump off of.

I have found these videos really useful to start out snowboarding. I took one day of official lessons, and these videos were enough to get me going. After a full season I feel pretty confident, and all of the gear I purchased from TruSnow has held up. Thanks for this website guys

I just learned backside 360 because of the tips from your videos.
The roll up was such a big part of the trick. I would of never thought of that on my own. Learning Frontside 360 next time.

i still can't get over the fear of backside 360, something about not seeing anything when you swing from the back really gets me nervous to do it, i can do frontside really easy. How do you guys get over your fear? The resorts near me always have hard icey jumps so when i do fall, it hurts like hell.

You just need to throw it on small jumps first sheesh. I was actually more afraid of fs 3's because doing backsides you can spot your landing early

I have the same problem as sheesh. I'm always afraid of falling down on the hard ice because I can't see when I'm turning. So I guess practice just makes perfect? |

i actually have a phobia of spinning backside or back flips. when i was a kid i used to do back flips all the time, i was really good at them. on day a kid ran behind me just as i was doing one i ended up with a fat lip, broke nose, 2 black eyes from my knees. every since theres been a block. i got really comforable with fs spins first, learned 3's and 5's and then started to throw bs 1's once i got less scared of not seeing on take off i started throwing 3's and they came around perfect every time and i started to be able to control that phobia. now i can spin bs 7's but every time im on the lip i feel like i want to collapse and not do it, but i know if i dont commit i will be hurt more so i go for it. just turn on a song that will pump you up, and make it so loud you cant think and drop in. after 3-4 times you just wash out it should start to get better. |
