I was reading the thread about plastic vs metal wax scrapers and it confirmed my thoughts about using metal scrapers: that they can take some of the structure out of your base. It would be nice to use a metal scraper though, as it is faster and does a better job.
I was wondering if anyone has experience with the Brass Riller Bars for pressing structure into a base. Tongar.com has some in three different patterns. It seems like an interesting idea to be able to wax and structure for the particular conditions. Of course you wouldn't re-structure every time but you could use a fine structure for early season, and switch to a more course structure for the spring season. It seems that if you had the capability of re-structuring, you wouldn't have to worry about pressing the structure out with a metal scraper. |
