Ski Dubai

I really wouldn't want to go to Dubai... for anything.

I saw a similar place in Japan when I was there a few years ago. The building looked like a huge slide and I didn't know what it was until I saw the signs. Pretty sweet, but I'm much happier with the Tahoe area mountains.

I flew through Dubai on another trip and it's hard to imagine skiing there because it's so hot, dry and flat. I'm not surprised that they built one of these places with all the money they seem to have over there.

I've only seen the one in Japan.  Crazyness!

I saw that place on the amazing race last season. It looked pretty cool. At least, you don't have to keep dreaming about skiing in summer.

yeah i looked into going for a few days, but its cheaper to go high cascade for a week so thats what im doing

Dubai? Hell no! Isn't that where that British couple was arrested for kissing on the beach? It's against the law to drink alcohol there too.

umm, yeah, ive heard that if you are a woman, you are not allowed to be outside of dubai without a burqa.

I've always been curious about places like these. Not curious enough to want to go, but just curious to see. None of these links work on the thread though and I'm too lazy to go search for myself... guess I'm not that curious after all.

They are opening an indoor ski place in New Jersey. I wonder if it will help bridge the gap between seasons.

Dubai sucks, a friend of mine went laste year, and told me there is nothing to do there, everything is expensive.

would love some indoor resorts in socal! that would make the long summer go by faster!

It looks pretty small but it would be nice to have during the summer. how much does that cost in USD?

Where in NJ and when is it opening? Is it snowflex?

i dont support the dubai idea, where spending money to make a holiday destination thats in the middle of the desert (las vegas comes to mind) but ohh wait, no drinking no gambling and all that good stuff.

Why settle for an indoor skiing area. Maybe they should just bulid an artificial ocean with water temp. like a jacuzee! Just make sure to have plenty of hookahs!

In Israel they actually have a ski simulator so you basically just ski on like a really big treadmill. Really good to practice you skills but as fun as the real thing

Well I live in Dubai.... Its a bunny slope at best.... Good for practice esp when its 50C outside 

its handy for the location if you live in the area, but if you've ever gone to a real mountain then its a bit of a let down. since there arent any mountains nearby it makes obtaining gear difficult so your kind of forced to just rent their gear. who's going to pack snow clothes and a board to dubai?

That and imagine the mass of beginners crowding the run. Its not like there bc you escape to either.
