Points for friends who become members

My 2cp on referrals.

1. There's a reason they don't exist anymore (since they did exist at some point). A, it was being abused, or B, the community is big enough so SS/TS doesn't need that kind of promotion to gain additional members.

2. Sure, having your friend on the site is cool too, but If I'm gonna be paying $100 for shipping to Canada, I'm gonna ask my friend whom I've referred if he/she wants anything from TS... to save on shipping. This stacks my account with points, which will lead to further discounts down the road should we both want to order again.

So having a bizillion accounts on the site serves no purpose since a group of friends can order off of one account. Only real purpose of an individual account is to socialize and share stories/knowledge/tips/photos etc.

Everything else is BONUS! for being an active participating member of TS.

that would be so great but it dosent really matter, the whole point system is amazing so i always tell my friends, it would be cool for somthing like 10 points if you refer a friend and they reach 100 or whatever, either way thanks sierra, your awesome.

I think that if you had a referral code to give to people it would be nice, and when they moved up in ranks you would get certain numbers of points (this would discourage abusers)

referral points would be dope...but I don't think it will happen...cause they already give us good benefits as it is...

I really think this is one of the best snowboard websites out there and I have told many of my friends to jump into the community.

I joined this site while shopping for and doing research on new boards. I would not have joined if not for the point system and the community of like minded people. Helps me get my snow shred fix on days that I can't ride.

the points system is already abused, this would just be another easy way to pull one over on tru snow to try to earn free points

If your friend is a douche though, you get negative points.

so true so how many points do you think you should get for referring friends?

just be thankful for the new rewarrding point system that we just got... this would get out of hand and it would be too hard to create a guideline to regulate the amount of points a member can receive.

EDIT: Nevermind, found it. I had to log out to see it. So here I was, hoping for them to nix the point system or at least make it harder to get points and now it's even easier to get tons of points.

referrals would be pretty awesome cause i told a bunch of people about this place since i always get good deals, and i told people about this place when i won my snowboard on the giveaway

The points for friends will never happen under current management, but who knows what will change with the new owners.

i recon the get 10 points when ya mates reach 200 points is a good idea... could work really well if you ask me

Or maybe for those who accumulate a certain number of points...

And perhaps also block people from creating accounts from the same IP address?

Just save your pennies and for every 10 bucks they give you a point. Really, its not a bad setup. Just use your friends gear and write alot of review about how you demoed the gear and your reviews on it :) And 10% off in addition to the sales price AND free snowboard give aways, arent really a bad combination at all for a website.

haha, i mean wouldn't we all want more points?  but i think in this case the potential cons of a referral system outweigh the potential good.  plus the coding and working of the system to prevent people from taking advantage of it isn't worth it.  let's just take what we got and go with it.

this same thing happens on youtube and other sites. people make new accounts so that they can say "i love your video!" to their own video. Surriously?

since i've referred many folks over the yrs, i think it's a good idea
