Just a quick question, dun wanna sound too noobie.
Keep in mind i ride park more.
Wat position does the boot have to be over the board? centered? currently my heel sticks out more than the toe.
What width apart are the bindings before it becomes too wide. should it be more of shoulder width?
cheers

You want your boot to be centered with respect to the width of the board, equal toe and heel overhang.
If you're not sure what stance width is right for you, you can set it up according to the reference width. There should be a note near the inserts that tell you what that is. As you ride more you can start to adjust your stance to what seems comfortable to you. Stance width and binding angles are really based on your own comfort and preference.

LOL, I had this same issue...just stand on it and see wha tis comfortable...park riders stand wider apart, with angles like 15-20, while me being a steeps and pow rider, just about shoulder width apart, back leg is at -5, front -15, something like that. If you ride switch a lot you might want to make the angles the same.

I'd say it depends on how hard you're carving. If you drag your toe/heel it might cause you to wash out.

you should have your bindings past shoulder width and center them out also in the front foot you should have a 15 to 21 and in the back -6 or -15 to -21

Trial and error, because one setting might work for others while it might not work well for you. Just keep tweaking your settings to find your desired setting.

Yeah, I have been doing that, its just a hassle to keep unscrewing and screwing the bindings back on.

That's why EST bindings are nice.

just make sure that your heels aren't dragging in the snow. It can definitely make everything more difficult. Whether that results in catching edges easier, having more difficulty pulling out of your carves, or washing out. Obviously if there is going to be hangover because your feet are too big or your board isn't wide enough then that's how it's going to be, but do what you can to center it up.

So its a dragging issue more of a balance issue?

Did you mean 15, -10? because -15, -10 , your feet would face /_/

It's dangerous to have your feet too far away, might pop out your knees. I prefer 15 / -15 because it's perfect twin(on a perfect twin board) and riding switch is easier.

Most snowboards have pre-drilled/tapped holes in them for mounting bindings. There are multiple sets of them so you can adjust the space between. Some board companies (Burton is well known for this) has a 'slider' system where the bindings mount to a disc that connects into slits on either side of the board for more options. ![]() |

^^^ he asked about skis (where you have to drill to mount).............. not snowboards........
Not sure about the real answer, but I have seen skis mounted 4-5 times........ not that this is recommended but I just have seen it done.

the wider your stance, the better balance you'll get because your centre of gravity is lower..
whereas if you have a narrower stance the opposite is true. In terms of angles, you'll just have to trial and error...when u ride try to pay attention to your feet and how they act, where the pressure is when you're riding park or groomers or pow.. w/e |

you should re-watch how much jibbing has progressed since people started riding narrower stances. wider does help to an extent, but getting too wide makes things really awkward and it definitely hinders performance. it was just a trend for a really long time and its finally mellowing out.

Yeah...
this question should be about how they feel about it them selves not what others thinks how it should be for you and what not.... its best to keep it the way you feel at most comfy not what others think its gonna be better for you because no one knows how you feel best but your self what feels right and what feels wrong. so no need to ask and just go with what you feel best with. |

I have a 148 Nitro Subzero, I'm using the widest stance. I like to ride park and it takes a bit to get used to especially if its after the off-season, But I find it much more fun and useful. What type of riding do you do? |

I am trying to excel in the park but I use my stance for all mountain!
I have the bindings as far "ducked" \ / out as possible. I think the angles are between -12/12 and -15/15 (my 09 Cartels don't have the angles on them so I had to "eyeball" it!

Will having a wider stance make it easier to do a board press? (aka ollie or wheelie)... I think that the closer your front foot is to the tip of the board, the more leverage you will have to lift it of the ground. Anyone have any experience with this?
