I am looking to go boarding during spring break this year, my girlfriend is new to boarding so I dont need anything crazy liek Mammoth. Where are your suggestions for going boarding? I like steeps and pow runs, Jackson Hole is my favorite place so far. Also, include best places to stay (hotels, etc.) if you can!

silverton, but your girlfriend won't like it, so how 'bout Crusty Butt, or something more tame, for your girlfriend, Vail, or west coast it with Squaw, something for everybody.

Squaw would be perfect. Lots of green runs for your girlfriend, but some of the best Blacks in Tahoe. And everything in between.

For a regular resort and town, Crested Butte is by far the best for steeps and eats. Silverton is a once in a lifetime type of mountain. Ditch the girlfriend for that one (may as well get a unguided season pass for $400). Squaw is great too but no much of a town near by.

Well, I went to Mammoth in March, and it was epic, the base had 15 feet or more of snow. Crested Butte will be good for me too though right?

I've had bad luck with Park City in mid/late March. You're pretty likely to get rained on. One year i went and within 5 consecutive days I saw everything from clear skies to rain/slush to ice and back to powder. The think to keep in mind about March/April snowboarding is that last year was an anomoly for the southwest part of the country. El Nino hit hard, and left a lot more white stuff than usual in CA. So if you're looking to pick a place by past history, go further back than last year. |

ya... or you could go out west and get actual powder and actual high speed lifts (although I kinda like the slow lifts, saves the pow) mid/late march can have spring conditions with occasional dumps in northern vt, i ski jay a-lot.

WEll...looks like the Crested Butte "specials" are not what they seem...lots of hidden dates and requirements. SO, not going there this year...but we are going to A-basin (Arapaho), and staying with a friend, so it will be much cheaper.
