We have one set up right now but haven't quite figured out how to use it safely without snow. We have a 2' by 24' staging catwalk covered with plywood and indoor/outdoor carpet, wetted down with soapy water, and a 12' by 14" UHMW fun box. The yard is flat so that doesn't help. The carpet is not that slippery even with plenty of suds, which don't last very long. I think it will work well with some snow but the present setup is kind of awkward without snow.

im just finishing my 14"x12' box now, is UHMW the same as HDPE? i buoght 1/4" hdpe and i am now worried that it will be too thin to countersink screws into so im thinking of trying to glue it to the box somehow.

rode down a hill last night in my neighbors backyard and ran into other to see if it was steep enough to go down but i ended seeing flat ground and just decided to slide my board down the hill...

Just topped my 10' box with HDPE yesterday. Used 1/8" and was able to countersink the screws. Just be careful when you do it, I have three holes in the plastic that are useless. My bro did 1/4" on his box, looked at mine and said he thought he could've saved a couple bucks using 1/8" instead. Haven't got to use it yet, but it's plenty strong if the box it's on is solid.
We haven't had enough cold weather to hold the snow I've made for long, but here's a shot from mid-Nov. (we're in SE MI) of me enjoying the 10' (pre hdpe), the 14 is in the backround. |

It needs to get cold so I can make some snow. We don't have much left after our last warm up. Now it's cold enough, but I'm gone for the weekend. Hopefully next week I can get 48 hours of good cold weather so I can make twice the amount of snow I need.

There's barely been cold this winter, but it didn't stop us from having a good time. This is a little edit I made for the Rome contest. Sorry I couldn't embed it.

I love how pissed you are getting. The one where you just start punching the shit out of the snow is priceless. Know that feeling! Sweet you landed it though, and you toughed it out. ![]() |
