Might be headed up to Oregon and was wondering if any locals can help me out with any deals on lift tickets.
Don't mind where, prefer Meadows, but Mt. Ashland, Ski Bowl, TImberline, Bachelor, etc. Down in NorCal we have 2 for one deals when you get gas from Shell. Is there anything like that up there? Thanks! |

I would check Costco and each of the mountain websites.

Sorry for two posts... But when are you planning on coming up? They do have the Shell 2 for 1 deals but they are very limited for the Mt. Hood mountains (and I believe on Mt. Bachelor as well), usually during night skiing on certain days during the week. They don't usually start that for a couple of months (at the earliest), do they???
Hope you have a great trip up here.

my wife and I are going to storm chase next week, so it's looking like mid-week next week. we're probably staying with friends in Portland, so the night riding is kinda out since we want to visit with them when they aren't at work ![]() I don't have a costco card, but maybe I'll check in and see they do have. |

Shell deals won't work for you then.... I would either suggest Meadows or Ski Bowl. The storms should be pretty amazing this week. Have fun!!!
I think the Costco deal right now for Meadows is 2 for $99?? But I'm not sure... I do know they have a $10 off coupon on their website (look for the scrolling banner).

Thanks for the tip on the banner. It's a ramen noodles and PB&J trip, so an extra $20 will get us about 150 miles!

Shell has the coupon for Oregon resorts, but it is highly limited. I would have to take a vacation day to use it...bad trade.
Here are the times you can use it for Oregon Cascade Resorts: Mt Hood Meadows: Wed & Thurs. 3pm-0pm Ski Bowl: Wed 3pm-10pm; Friday 9am-4pm Timberline: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursdays up until 4/17/11 (Blackouts March 22-24) Hoodoo: Thursday 9am-4pm; Friday 4pm-9pm Willamette Pass: Friday 12:30-9pm. |

I would check out Coscto first (see if your friends have a card). Then, it's going to be pretty amazing at Ski Bowl as well as at Meadows. It's a cheaper restort to go to with plenty of steep stuff. It's all fixed lifts and make sure to lock up your boards. Timberline won't be as good for the storm chasing because it's relatively flat.
Have a great time!!!

Not sure about nightboarding at Meadows, didn't like it the last time I was there.
I'm not leaving until Friday the 14th. So far it's looking like Sierra at Tahoe 15-17 (season pass) drive the 18th 19th at Timberline (shell deal) 20th at Meadows thursday (costco maybe?) 21st at SkiBowl on Friday (shell deal) Saturday I can hit Willamette or Mt. Ashland (cheaper mountains anyway) on the way back to Reno for a Northstar through the 24th (blackouts lift) to close 10 days off the plan is starting to take shape! |

Nice trip...
I would NOT do Meadows night. There aren't many lit runs, Ski Bowl is better and cheaper.

well, now it's looking like we're postponing the trip. forecast is rain/snow mix all over Mt. Hood and the spousal unit wants pow. guh. How the hell am I supposed to perfectly predict where the pow will fall right on queue for her? |

also, how can this be, check out the forecast for Timberline, saying they will get 12-20" of snow in two days:
http://www.weather.com/outlook/recreation/ski/snowreport/503009?from=ski_results then here is Mt. Hood Meadows, saying 1-3" of snow: http://www.weather.com/outlook/recreation/ski/snowreport/503006?from=ski_results aren't they on the same mountain? what's going on here? Is it worth it for 3 days at timberline since Bachelor is too far off for us? |

Nightboarding at Meadows has actually been kind of crappy this year. They've been offering a $99 nighttime season pass, so the place has been absolutely packed in the evenings.
Also, I wouldn't put much stock in weather.com. Snow-Forecast is my pick for mid-term forecasts, while NWAC is tops once you get within a two-day window. |
