HELP WITH A NEW SET UP

What is your budget looking like??

buy a Lib TRS (pref w/ MTX), a Magne Traction, or Gnu Rider's Choice. Similar boards but Mervin makes great freestyle boards that work really well everywhere. The RC is the softest of the three in my opinion, so if you need something for hitting rails some, i would go in that direction. i've seen people on the TRS and RC killing it on rails, too. i'm not too much of a rail guy, so....
i like Salomon bindings a lot, some of this year's Pros or Relay Pros would look/work nice on any of those.

you could also get some Cartels. everyone seems to like them. i just bought some to try out and i am kind of a die hard non-Burton guy.

i can think of about 10 boards i would like to try... you're going to get a lot of answers and opinions.

it does depend on your budget.

EDIT: you could easily get all this stuff within that budget.

oh and AMERICA! FUCK YEAH!

I know in the past Mervin boards were known to be a little on the heavier side. How are they stacking up nowadays? Does everybody mind listing their set up and giving it a rating?

the Dark Series is really light, but pretty stiff. i don't know that i would consider them heavy, but i'm sure it depends what you compare it to. The RC seems to be the lightest.

My setup changes around cause i have a few boards:
Lib Tech TRS Magne Traction 159 - last year's all mountain
Lib Tech Magne Traction 156  - ditto
Lib Tech Snow Mullet Magne Traction 160 - pow / trees
Lib Tech Youth in Asia - 155 jib/park
Gnu Rider's Choice Magne Traction 157.5 - this year's all mountain

Technine Team 1- nice all around, good all mountain
Salomon SPX55 - great, responsive, stiff and oh so comfy
Salomon Relay Pro - similar to T9s, but more flexy and responsive
Burton Cartels - seem to be a combo of the T9's and the SPX55's, i have not ridden them yet

i actually really liked the TRS w/ the SPX55's if i had to pick one set up from last year. up until now, i do more freeriding, natural freestyle, and some jumps.
this year it will probably be the Rider's CHoice with the Relays or maybe the Cartels.

my favorite board is the TRS, i bought the RC cause it seems like a softer version of it.
