I went up to Mammoth for the weekend and it was awesome, but just a long drive for someone coming from LA.
How is Bear Mountain this season? I haven't been, but would like to know if its just worth it to hit Mammoth instead and save the money for a better experience.

I booked 2 nights for vday weekend which isn't even a holiday weekend because it's right before v day so it's regular rate and it cost me 800 bucks for a 5 min drive to Snow Summit, whereas I booked 3 nights in Mammoth for 580 bucks and is right by the lift. So I'm going to have to say Mammoth.

There's already a thread on Bear/Snow Summit in the west coast forum.
You're also missing the expense of tickets and gasoline. Also if Udyr plans on just commuting instead of staying a night he would probably save a significant amount going to bear as opposed to Mammoth. If you dont have to stay a night then Bear should be cheaper. The snow is less admirable though compared to mammoth. They have 40+ hours of snowmaking at bear this past week. it was really good in december and january. but i have yet to go back since my trip to whistler. if youre going to go, go on sunday where there are less crowds. |

Okay, I'll start posting in the thread, thanks.
The plan would be to go up for the day and drive back afterwards. |

I think mammoth is a lot more worth it. We spent 3 days 4 nights and It was really cheap.
