Board Summer Storage

I know its still mid season and everything but when it comes close to summer time what is that best thing to do with my board over they summer? should i wax it before the summer? and should i keep the bindings in or take them out? and should i keep my board up right or laying down or things like that? i am just looking to lengthin the life of my board are there any tips you can give me to help lengthen the life of my board.

would it be a big deal to leave the bingings in? my screws are starting to strip and i kind of just want to leave em in

Yea this is the first summer I'll have my board and thats probably what I'll do. A nice thick summer wax job, take the bindings off, and put it in a bag for the dust.

ok sounds good thanks man. so waxing it is definitely a good idea for the summer. i got another question do you usually get like a full tune up before the summer starts like shrapin your edges and all that good stuff?

If you plan on riding early next season you should not do a full tune. That is when the snow is low and you are likely to ride over rocks/branches/etc. I just took my board in for a wax + edges, but will probably do a full tune sometime next season.

Do boards really dry out?  What happens if it dries out?  Does it crack?

not sure what the consequences are if it dries out. most people just take the bindings off and wax (no scrap). im pretty sure it doesnt crack, though. 

if you wanna to start waxing yourself, it won't be a bad idea. it's a lot cheaper, goodwill iron, bout $20, a bar of wax, bout $10, scraper $5, edge tuning kit is the expensive one $30+. if your edges are good, you don't need to mess with it yet. you can tell how the edge is by rubbing your finger along the edge. a few minor knicks is okay, but its rough all over then you should tune it. i personally did't find any difference when i rest my board flat on the ground or set it against the wall during the summer. try to keep it in a cool dry place or any spot of the house where the temp. doesn't vary too much. ski shop will wax it for you, but you'll need to tell em you want a summer wax so they will most likely apply more wax and not scrape it. 

Its good to store it with a coat of wax on it so the dirt and dust doent get into it. And try to keep it in a bag aswell.

l say take it off so that you can clean the bindings and so you can keep it in the original plastic bag

Throw it in the corner and worry about it next fall.  That's the tried and true method.

dude all you need to do is wax your board so the base doesnt dry out...taking your bindings off is a totally unecessary

At end of season, I will remove my bindings, put them back in their respective boxes. I will give my boards a quick tune-up (edge sharpen) and use SimpleGreen to clean the base and topsheet of my boards. I will then give my board a wax coating for the summer (but won't scrape till next season). I will put them in board sleeves and store in my basement closet upright (as to not risk pressure/chipping on the un-scraped wax).

Then I will cry till next winter season.

i think im just going to get it waxed and leave it till next season then scrape the wax off next season.

just make sure to leave it in a dry environment

i plan on turning back the binding screws a half turn and putting it in the corner

Just put a heavy coat of wax on the board, put it in a sleeve, and throw it under a bed or in a closet. Mine will be under the couch in my game room. Bindings still in it.

+1 for the coat of wax and in a sleeve under your couch.

I like to store with the little silica packets you get in any new electronics or shoes to minimize humidity.

wow lots of good info here. i am going to wax my board and leave it in a bag.
this weekend, i am going to have my last run of the season

i still haven't gotten mine waxed i need to get on that. do you think that ski shops still are doing waxes?
