Hot wax is way better, but I do use rub on wax occasionally for when I am to lazy to hot wax my boards.

I would def go hot wax for sure. It spreads evenly and not clumps like rub on.

Hot wax I think is best for sintered and rub is just "ok" for whenever. If you ride an Extruded Base then Rub Wax will be fine I believe

I vote for hot wax as well! the wax fill the pores, so technically you cant really see it.

Hot wax, but it obviously takes longer. Rub on wax works fine if you need a quick wax on the mountain. Although hot wax lasts longer as well. I feel like some rub on waxes rub off after a few runs.

Use hot wax. Guarantee you will feel the difference compared to the rub on stuff. I hot waxed my board last season and noticed a significant difference in my top speed

there are no pores in base material, just to reiterate that to people who still don't know it was just a metaphor of sorts.

I have used Swix rub on wax-liquid form. This stuff works great for a few days. Not as good as hot wax but nice quick fix.

Some rub on wax is not that bad in my opinion. Many options out there but look for the Swix. That is my favorite.

to my understanding, you're supposed to rub it on, then rub it in with cork. You probably did it wrong. I always hot wax.

Rub on wax doesn't seem to do much for me, unless I haven't waxed in a while. I usually hot wax every 4-5 days of use, sometime more often if I'm riding long days.

if you want to go really cheap, just use an old iron... but I'd definitely recommend an actual ski or board iron. check out ebay for some good deals

Cork is excellent at heating and buffing the rubbed in wax at the same time. Rub your wax, buff the bajeesus out of it with the cork, and scratch it up with your scotch brite pad.

Rub on wax is good to keep in your pocket on a long day of boarding especially in the park. Sometimes I just use rub on while on the mountain during a 3 day trip but will always hot wax on the first day.

i try to wax my boards every 3-4 days i'm on the mountain. you could probably go 5-6 but if you do it on your own i would try and be safe at once every 3-4 days on the mountain

Rub on wax comes off as easy as it goes on. Check out Choad Cheese Snowboard Wax. It's worthy!

Rub on wax is only for my surfboards, hot wax is for my snowboards. Bottom Line. Its just an attempt from burton, nothing else.

hot wax for sure! Rub on wax is just way more annoying because all it does it make a mess and you aren't even sure if the wax is on correctly

I just order a Swix universal wax 180g for this season. I think it should last me a while. Hot wax FTW. I only problem with hot wax is that they recommend to wax in a ventilated area. So, I wax my board outside and its cold. And it takes longer because the wax freezes on the board.

When it comes to wax, definitely hot wax.
If a wax is "rubbed-on" using your hands, how well do you think it'd stay on the board being ridden down the hill? a lot more force is applied in removing it then applying it, making it pretty much useless. As for waxing in a well ventilated area, I found it just fine to do it in a room with newspapers for easy disposal, and open windows for ventilation. |

I hotwax my boards in the living room, just open a window and its fine. I would also suggest waxing inside for better results, you don't want the wax to cool too quickly... |

hot wax is the way to go if u got time. u actually get wax into the board and lasts way longer. only downfall is if u do it at home it gets really messy

And when you think you've got it scraped good use a scotcbrite pad to buff it out bait. Then brush it for a nice finish.

i just waxed my board for the first time its pretty easy. I had to do it twice though because i missed some wax near the edge when applying it. what do you guys use for cleaning solution and how much do you really need to buff it? My board flew when i took it out but i dont know if there is a big difference with buffing?

Buffing is a key step that shouldn't be skimped on. It helps get down into the grooves of the base, and scrape out the extra wax. Extra wax will just slow you down, so it's a good step.
