I had 5 guys in DC and it was AWESOME! They opened up 5 locations here in Vegas and they aren't nearly as good. They are deffinatly good, even better then In n Out, but WAY to pricey. For that price, I'll take SmashBurger or Create Burger any day. Or for a little more FudRuckers or Cheeburger Cheeburger.
how do you all feel about food trucks? We got a few here with http://www.fukuburger.com/ and http://slidinthru.com/ being my favorite...but we have a http://vegasstreats.com/ event here every month with a grip of food trucks and it's such a blast! |

I have an in n out down the street. all 3 of my (under 10 year old) kids love their burgers the best, which is awesome because I can feed my whole family for under $20. 5 guys is a MUCH better burger, but feeding my family there cost closer to $50... It's not a must have or anything, but their burger are better and cheaper then Mcdonalds, burger king, etc. However, I have to say the new DT Delux burgers and the different DT specialty burger at Wendy's are pretty awesome for a fast food burger. I expecially like the new garlic burger. |

Mmmm, my favorite food on the hill is still Smoke's Poutine at Mount Tremblant QC. $10CAD gets you 2 and half heart attacks!

Aw man...the lodge at my local hill is terrible. It's so small, the food is bad and it's terribly over priced, but it's the same lodge it's been since the '70s! I think this year they finally built a new lodge, so I hope the food is better...but will prolly still be expensive as all hell!

See we are simple, my whole crew stops at Dunkin before every trip. We all cook, but not early enough for breakfast. We always tailgate it up in the parking lot. The best last year was BBQ stuffed peppers. Delicious!
And beer is always good. |

I'm talking $7 grilled cheese sandwiches... I started just packing a cooler. My hill doesn't open till 8 and it's only about an hour away, so I'll wake up at 6 like any other weekday and pack my cooler with a couple sandwiches, some chips, a granolla bar, some water and some beer. Usually hit up starbucks or MikeyD's on the way up. I love me that bacon egg n cheese mCgriddle!!!

Geez, if you're analyzing fast food when you have a full family - you eat way too much of it. |

LOL! Naw...when you have a family of 5 on a single income, you analyse EVERYTHING you spend money on! But we really only eat out as a family on special occasions, and them openning up a 5 Guys here in Vegas was a special occasion for me because of how great I remembered them being in DC. I just wasn't expecting to pay that much at a fast food joint.
But at work, my co-workers and I eat out every payday, so every 2 weeks. I don't think that's to much.

^^no matter if your a family of 5 or 2, and if you go out 1 or 7x you should always be expense conscious. l always try to be price conscious and pick up food thats decent and priced decent. no need to always go full flavour for full price, if you get waht l mean

I don't think I'm following you. Are you saying that no one should ever eat at 5 Guys because it's to expensive? Cause if that's the case, you would FREAK OUT if I told you how much it cost when I took my family out to That all you can eat Brazilian steak house, Texas De Brazil!

l'm saying its fine to go out and eat with fam every once in while at expensive place, but that you'll still need to look at your wallet as the bottom line. cuz my impression of what the other person is saying is that you shouldnt look at your wallet when you go out to eat |

soup base...depending on where in japan you eat ramen, the soup base is different. the south of japan is mostly tonkotsu while northern japan is salt based. Tokyo area is soy sauce based and in between hiroshima and tokyo they usually blend the soy sauce and tonkotsu soup base for another level of deliciousness... man...I love ramen... |

Thanks mom... j/k I must have missed that post. Who gave you the impression that you shouldn't look at your wallet when you go out to eat? Which comment was that? Oh, and I agree about In n Out. As far fast food places go, it's pretty good...but it's still just another fast food joint. We need more stuff in here like this deep fried twinkie: ![]() |

the thing with in n out is that so many people hear them talked up so much, and they expect it to be hands down the best burger they've ever had. of course i'd rather have a good fuddruckers or chilis burger than in n out. but as far as fast food goes, in n out kills anything else out there. mcdonalds, burger king, wendy's...they don't stand a change for getting a good burger under 4 or 5 bucks.

I wouldn't call In n Out juicy by any means. Their burgers are super flat.
Anyway, going to my friends B-Day party tonight in the Penthouse of the Palms Casino and her husband is a chef so I'm hoping for some bomb ass grubbin. Will try to snap some pics...

Surprised no one's mention seafood...
I'm a big seafood person and I absolutely love fish dishes. I always try to experiment with different herbs, oils, and spices to find the perfect taste. With seafood, they've got a strong aroma and flavour, so I add in stronger herbs like dill, garlic, and green onions with a touch of black pepper and sprinkle with lime. Goes great with pastas and light cheese dishes! While I also like spicy foods, I find fish plates are difficult to cook hot without spoiling the seafood taste and aroma. Maybe somebody here might have recipe. Seafood eaters, I know you're out there! :) |
