ride made it for their park boards. i heard it's made of "skateboard wheel" plastic so it won't chip. plus it helps dampen and gives some extra pop.

Its an 85a durameter sidewall. The urethane has more give to it and dampens chatter. Its not a gimic salomon did it before.

Does it effect the weight of the board at all? Or is it too small to notice?

well the skateboard wheels do get alot smaller after you use them for a while. this guy i know had 51 mm wheels then after a year the wheels were like 15-20 mm. very tiny

but skateboard wheels are more durable than normal sidewalls of a snowboard. man some brands they are so soft... makes you wonder why it has taken this long to make a stronger sidewall. they really get messed up with alot of jibbing.
how about titanium edges next? so they dont dent in as easily lol

Bronze has very little metal-on-metal friction, which made it invaluable for building cannons where iron cannonballs would otherwise stick in the barrel. The same idea makes it ideal for sliding down iron and steel rails without catching and edge. Compared to tradition steel edges that fracture on impact, becoming brittle, bras* and bronze create a smear. " Bronze edges are a way smooter slide-by having less friction, they reduce the chances of hanging up," says Rome SDS pro Casey Neefus, who rode the Artifact with bronze edges last season. Rome, Flow, and Capita are among the brands edging out twin-tip park boards with bras* and bronze.
Another innovation for sliding rails smoothly comes from Ride in the form of forgiving urethane Slimewalls. "It works alot like skateboard wheels. The Slimewall fine-tunes the way a board interacts with snow, wood, or metal features." Says Hunter waldron, snowboard development engineer at Ride. They're adding this rim of sticky plastic along and extra thick, file-ready, steel edge to all of Ride's park boards this season.

I am sure Burton will do something like this. They already use Stainless Steel edges on the Vapor, T6, Custom X, Baron ES, and Feelgood ES. Just the edges alone probably jack the price up a 100 dollars. If they went to Titanium I couldn't imagine the raise in cost.

Didn't the slimewalls used to be 2-piece, which was poorly designed, and this year they are making it 1-piece slimewalls to increase durability?
