I think everyone who has ridden Snowshoe will agree with me on this one.
Of all the resorts i've ridden in the southeast, Snowshoe is my favorite. Not only do they have 60+ trails, which is 3x as many as anywhere here in NC, but they also have a whole seperate mountain for night skiing. They have a ton of terrain parks if you're interested in that area. Also, the atmosphere there is unbeatable. I went for my first time last year around March 12, and it was the best trip i've been on. It's a nice touch that the village center is at the top of the mountain as well. Hope this helped |

Awesome dude. I hope for the best in the trip I am going on in March. Ive always wanted to go night boarding. Maybe my group will consider after all its a crew of about 5-10 people at the moment.
Thanks |

Nice powder, you need a wiper for your helmet cam.

I would like Snowshoe a little better if there was cell phone coverage anywhere within a two hour radius of it. No bars on Sprint or Verizon.
Good information on their website about this too: http://www.snowshoemtn.com/getting-here/faq/other_faq.htm |

Snowshoe is the best in the southeast. You'll love it. And there's a shit ton of things to do on the mountain. There's always something going on. Its like a village on the mountain.

Been there twice in 5 years. First time was my third trip (all on east coast). Thought it was amazing. Biggest resort id been too (live in Georiga). for the next two years we flew to Vail and Beavercreek. Wanted to get another week in so drove up to snowshoe. It was terrible. Snow suck, too many people on the greens that just stand right in the middle of a run. Runs that go down hill then up hill. Lift lines at the bottom of the runs had too many poeple, runs were way to short. My point in telling you this, if you are better than a beginner, stay on the blacks and blue because those will be your best bet. Snowshoe is great if you have never been out west or even farther up north. But if you have, be prepaired to be dissapointed.

This is what I tell people all the time. For the southeast, it's one of the best you can find (although this winter, the weather has been shitty, more and more dirt visible every weekend). But when you compare it to anything out west, or farther north on the east coast, it really isn't even comparable.

Snowshoe also doesn't have cell phone service because of the radio wave telescope near by. it looks like a massive satellite dish, you may have seen it driving by but yeah, they don't want cell towers messing up its signals to aliens.

Snowshoe is a great resort. The western territory is what makes the place. I enjoy the village as well. It's the only eastern ski resort that i know of that has a starbucks slopside for a nice touch.

highway12south,
I try to go there once a year. I am very familiar with the place. I live within 4 hours of the place, so it works out nice for a weekend/long weekend getaway. I booked a four day trip just a few weeks ago as a matter of fact for this February. Do you ride at snowshoe a lot? |

Just bought my season pass a few days ago. Snowshoe is great for the South East. I would say its comparable to some of the bigger resorts in PA though. No Killington, but certainly not a Shawnee or anything like that.

I saw they were planning on opening on Nov. 21st. I guess they are still trying to restore power to the area and that sort of stuff

I would just like to say I am in love with snowshoe. all these other resorts seem to be trying to suck the money out of the riders. snowshoe offers a 50% military discount and now I just bought the ridiculous pass. i have already boarded 95 dollars of it. thank you snowshoe for setting the standard.
that being said, last week was amazing! 11 inches of powder! if you weren't up there you missed out big time.

Snowed 6 inches last night, according to the email I got from opensnow. They usually stay open through the end of march, depending on the snow it could be earlier or later. They've had a good winter this year, so i'd bet on them staying open later.
