Check it out:
For Tahoe folks, access to KIRKWOOD, HEAVENLY, AND NORTHSTAR for as little as $379! Or if you want to ride on Saturdays too AT ALL RESORTS, it's only $40 more! But you better get this deal before April 15th. We'll see how high the prices go later on. |

getting the full EPIC this year. wife didn't like that lack of Northstar on our snow calendar and was thrilled with our Kirkwood Pass turning into an unrestricted Northstar pass as well.

Not a bad price at all to get 3 quality resorts, and if you have a job it's a no-brainer to pay $40 more for saturdays even if they're crowded. Especially when a one-day lift ticket is $90 or so.

Same price for the value pass as last year, and added 1 resort. Thank you Vail for not raising the prices!

the only hesitation i have is northstar with the crowds...i'd be interested in seeing what squaw/alpine has to offer before jumping on this one.

The crowds at Squaw on a powder day are absolutely ridiculous. Try riding KT-22 first thing in the morning. I think it's much worse than Northstar.

exactly. 40 minute waits on KT22 on St. Patty's day. I was at Northstar all weekend, and I don't think I waited 40 minutes the entire time. backside & promised land lift lines were vacant. only wait I had was on Vista

I don't think I've ever waited in line for the Backside and Promised Land lifts at Northstar. There might be a couple of people in front of you at most, if any... But, then, I usually go on weekdays and never on Saturdays.

Yeah, this is a good deal. I have stood in line for Backside before, and it was a Saturday w/ lots of crowds. But not when I've gone on a weekday. This is a better deal than what Squaw/Alpine has for their season pass next year.
Squaw/Alpine Season Pass Although, they do offer some interesting incentives for the gold and silver season pass and do offer free April use if bought for new comers, discount to last year prices for renewals. |

Oh yeah, there will be a Kirkwood only option for season pass, but they are not announcing the pricing on it until later. So wonder if it will match the prices from last season. But value wise, I think the Tahoe Local pass for all days, except blackouts at $419 is your best bet.

Unless you like waiting in line on Saturdays, I'd go with the $379 Value Pass if you're trying to decided between the $419 Local Pass... |

That's true for Northstar, but at Kirkwood, it might be worth it to go since lines are not usually an issue. Or very minimally an issue. Especially if your friends can only go up on Saturdays, the extra $50 would cover that one Saturday that you decide to go at anytime in the season.

was super happy when my $300 unlimited network kirkwood pass added northstar and heavenly. i have a couple buddies who had both kirkwood & heavenly passes, which kind of sucked for them.
i'll probably do the $420 local, and am considering adding the colorado just in case i go out there. anyone know how easy it is to upgrade from one to another after the season has started?

i don't think you can, but I've never tried it. last year they allowed it when the Vail/Northstar deal went down, I don't think Kirkwood did it with Apline/Squaw deal this year, and I know they didn't with Kirkwood/Alpine/Vail mid-season as a friend of mine tried that. too many mergers......

I might have to go ahead and get the full epic this season. I'm almost the same distance from CO and Tahoe resorts so who knows. Or maybe I end up at Mammoth. I need to figure this out.

all satrudays restricted means you can't use the pass on saturdays. but, since you plan on going to some non-vail resorts (sugarbowl and squaw on your list), then you can go to those on saturdays. then use your pass to northstar and kirkwood on any other day. you need to also watch for blackout dates too in case part of your trip is on a holiday.

Daymn, if you actually have that much cash to drop I would admit I'm a little jealous. Buy a pass to 1 resort, and then buy day passes at 2 others? Wow, get some dude. Keep in mind that a day pass to Squaw or SugarBowl will be at least $75 a pop, probably more.

i have some buddies on the East Coast that do a trip to CO and a trip to CA every year and they just get the EPIC pass. pays for itself in 6 days easily.
If you're CA only the $419 is a steal, pays for itself after day 4. Northstar was $102 peak days and Heavenly was $106 |

if you're only riding 6-8 days, i would try to stay all within a single season pass unless the cost just doesn't bother you.

I'm not sure how you get he is buying a season pass at 2 more mountain from that post. So he's thinking an EPIC pass and the desire to hit up SB and Squaw Valley? sure, $600 for everything, the end. not bad for 6-8 days of riding.

You're aware that Vail only owns Kirkwood, Northstar, and Heavenly in the Tahoe area, right? Squaw and Sugar Bowl are owned by two totally different entities and you will have to pay full price for those days you want to ride there. Also, keep in mind that only Northstar is on the North Shore with Squaw and Sugar Bowl. You would have to drive south to Heavenly, and even farther to Kirkwood if you wanted to ride there, and if inclement weather conditions present themselves, you're screwed. The gas money wouldn't really be worth it either... If I were you, I'd look at the Squaw/Alpine pass instead of the Epic Pass.

This is what I was referring to, and how I deduced that he wanted an Epic Pass plus day passes to 2 additional resorts. Emphasis added to show the different ownership of the different resorts. |

from what i can gather, jammon relies on word of mouth for his research. he doesn't really know where each of the resorts he mentioned are located and which season passes work at which resorts. that's why he's talking about going to resorts that are geographically in different places and owned by different companies with different season passes. but, i also concluded that money is not a problem for him so he's willing to pay to go to all the different resorts and he doesn't have a problem driving all over the place.
i would advise to look for lodging at north shore since most of the resorts on your list are in the north. from truckee, you can easily get to sugarbowl, northstar, squaw, and alpine meadows. diamond peak is also pretty close going to the nevada side. heavenly and kirkwood are going to be further, but you don't mind the drive.
i agree with alka that you're better served with a squaw/alpine pass since they're right next to each other and have a great variety of terrain for your play around in for the 2 weeks. then just spring for the daily passes at the other resorts you want to go to.

Yes, good advice. I would add Homewood to the list as well, especially if JAMMON ends up running into a pow day. For reference, Homewood is on the West side of the lake, not too far from Squaw/Alpine.

I doubt it. Someone will probably have to make a Jammon duh table outlining which resorts are included in the epic pass like how someone made him a duh map for the resorts in Tahoe. Even after all of that I still don't think he knows how far these resorts are or where exactly they are. |

the first week i will be traveling SOLO
i have a friend that lives by kirkwood so i will visit him for 2-3 days. get two whole days out of it and i wonder if he's down to go heavenly... after those days spent there i will travel to squaw to see if its worth it and travel up north to truckee after. so sugarbowl should fit in there somewhere and n* also before my friends come up to the cabin. still solo till friends come i work long hours and i have vacation days not days off.
yeah squaw/sugarbowl i have to pay full price and its not a bad stop along the way. just need to find a cabin and rent a car. (anyone know where i can stay @ hotels or a cabin for cheap?) So question still stands. should i still shoot for the epic pass even though squaw and sugarbowl are out of the way? |

I got the Same Epic local pass that ZAKK got. I don't like Heavenly too much, but getting a season pass to Northstar and Kirkwood in addition to Heavently for $420, it was too good to pass up. I'll probably be at Northstar for most days, but definitely Kirkwood for pow days. I can't wait!!!

2 days in kirkwood = $80x2 (your 2 days at your kirkwood friend's)
1 day in heavenly = $100 (your 1 day w/ your kirkwood friend)
2 days in northstar = $100x2 (1 day solo, and 1 day w/ your friends at the cabin)
that's already $460. if that's the minimum days you plan on riding the above resorts, it's cheaper to get a epic local pass.
1 day at squaw should be $100
1 day at sugarbowl should be $80
$640 just for lift ticket for the 2 weeks, plus airfare, plus car rental, plus lodging...wow...i need a job that pays like jammon

car rental is insane dude for like 2 weeks is a grand. LAWL
mom lend me your car. nice pricing lightning +1 for you! damn heavenly is $100 LAWL is it even worth it? (feedback please) northstar is a given (no blue's sticking to blacks) so that will be worth it thats only 7 days and a break in a day between should be about right. so its worth it? |

We need an epic guide to the Tahoe resorts, like Ippy's Snowboard Buying Guide, with all this info stickied in one place, including badly drawn maps. Would be a great reference tool, and it would save me having to bitch about the parking at Northstar every time someone asks.
And for whoever mentioned Homewood, I got four or five days there this year and really liked it. Really good terrain, nice people, awesome views while you ride.

Hana, you are correct. The local pass inclused Heavenly, Kirkwood and Northstar. Plus, you get 6 passes i think, for friends and guests. Maybe you can make JAMMON a duh table if the written word is too complicated. some people are visual learners.
