Amazed by the over reaction to Kaepernick. Yes he had a good start vs a great defense but I think it was more the bears not being prepared enough. Thinking backup QB is going to be have a run heavy offense.
I'm not saying Kaepernick is a bust. I'm not saying he's the chosen one. I'm just saying it was one good start. Other Niners that had one good start: JT O'Sullivan, Troy Smith, etc. I would like to see him play in New Orleans to see how he does on the road. And once there's more game film on Kaepernick, defenses can better prepare for him. |

Better hurry if you're trading. Most trade deadlines in fantasy football are tomorrow.

It was certainly ugly for one of em... Hell.. almost got to see a (backup)^2 QB!
I thought he secured the ball and kept himself pretty safe last night, for the most part. The one exception was his 10-ish yard run where he should've slid, but instead tried to run over his former college teammate, only to be blasted. But still didn't fumble! lol His long throws weren't always the most accurate, but nothing was under-thrown. All-in-all, a very impressive outing. I won't argue that he deserves Smith's spot now, but there could very well be a few teams scouting him now.
You're definitely on to something here, Solo. I mean, the Seachiggens spent a load of money to get Flynn after a one-game showing, only to have him wind up as their backup QB. |

yes. THIS. when vick came back, he made FOOLS out of every team he played...but after a few games, he was just like every other dece QB once teams started making plans against him. while it SUCKS that CK couldn't really test himself this game, the bears just didn't strategize around him or expect to play him...they expected to fight alex smith but he never showed up. and right now, harbaugh will easily pick smith over CK the rest of the season. there's no reason for it to go to CK, as great a player as he is. the chronicle said it best...right now we have a "2nd string" that makes our team bad ass and a neutron bomb (smith) ticking and waiting to get back on the field...this is our win and every OTHER TEAM in the NFL's loss. this is gonna be GRRRRREEEAAAT.

he wasnt cleared yet so we're all technically still waiting for that. right now, an early pick for kaep is the right choice, in that he can actually have TIME to practice managing the game

NFL is definitely changing that rule at the end of the season, if not sooner. I mean, Schwartz is a jerk, but the penalty is pretty harsh. The point of the rule is to get the call right. Clearly, the result was not the correct call.

It's on the coach to make that happen. Injuries have a little to do with that but its on the GM to find quality depth. |

^Would be tough to sit him considering his performance against the Bears... but you need to keep in mind the long term effects on Smith. First, they were openly courting Manning, now this? I know he has been under fire pretty much since he was drafted, but he can't be happy.

Me too. I was actually surprised he was on the waiver wire 2 weeks ago when I got him. Now I have 3 solid #1 wr's in that league. Oh and big win by the Bears today. Packers vs Giants later tonight should be good. Really hope Giants win that. |

^^ I agree Now my wr are Colston, Cecil, and Victor cruiz, with Antonio Brown hurt on my bench and danny amendola on my bench. And a nice win by the Bears. I hope Giants kill it and hoping victor kills it the most.

Niner's pull out the win thanks to two pick sixes. I didn't like the call to bring back kp for the starting role despite his great performance last week. To me, he played okay this week, but press conference says Harbaugh sat alex to make sure he fully recovers from the concussion, which I'll be okay with if alex can get the start next week. I really think we still need alex to work the offense. kp might be our prospective explosive future, but not now, not yet.

What the hell San Diego, seriously 4th and 29 and the Ravens converted to tie and eventually win.
The Giants are putting it to the Packers right now. Maybe the NFC east really isn't up for grabs

This game's a ROUT. Holy cow. I wish there were something else on to watch lol. In other news, the Seachickens are officially the WORST $&#%ing road team in football. Jesus! I picked TB to upset ATL today, and came within a field goal of getting that one correct... but it sailed wide right :(. My picks for this week are BAD. |

that was a NASTY game...the packers are NOT looking like the team they should be :/
the defense was EXPLOSIVE for the 49ers, giving them TWO touchdowns...and another two produced by CK. it's getting hard to root for alex but it would be myopic to simply abandon him now.

I honestly feel bad for alex smith. The guy has the second best winning percentage of the last two seasons-he has that unbelievable playoff win over the saints last year to his name, he has a coach who appeared to be the first to truely have his back and suddenly he's out-i just dont get it. What does the guy have to do?

He'll be back to start against the Rams. You don't start an essentially rookie QB in the middle of a Super Bowl/deep playoff run. Even Harbaugh said that if Alex had been cleared earlier than Friday, he would've played. It was the lack of game preparation due to Smith's injury that led to Kaepernick's second start. Smith will be back under center for the rest of the season, barring injury. Next season? Who knows..

Whoah, whoah, whoah, the Jets already beat the Rams, and they're probably going to beat the Cards next week too.
It's been a tough season, but they're definitely not as bad as the Cardinals. Just need the lineman to wear brighter pants so Sanchez can see them when he's scrambling around. |

I believe Harbaugh will put the best players on the field. Brady replaced Bledsoe so I have no issues if smith is benched. Like I said before, I don't care who starts, as long as they win. Harbaugh knows if Kaepernick is ready more than fans and media. So I don't question it. If anything, we have quality depth at QB.

i like Alex Smith as a game manager type qb, and you have to give the guy credit for last years run as well as his numbers this season... that being said, you just don't see Alex making those throws downfield like Kaepernick does.

Ummm, have you watched any of the games Smith played in this season? He definitely can throw downfield like Kapernick does. I think you need to rewatch those games and witness it yourself.

I still think Kaepernick give the 49ers an additional dimension to their game. Alex Smith can throw down the field, but he doesn't do so often, he usually makes the "safe" pass. But, that also means he doesn't throw interceptions. I think Kaepernick can see the field just as well as Smith, can make the same throws as Smith, but can run much better than Smith. That gives Kaepernick the edge over Smith. I foresee SF going entirely with Kaepernick as the starter starting next season.

as a matter of fact i have watched a few 49ers games this season, and in those games smith never threw the ball long with any success (look at the jets game where they scored 34 pts, he missed at least 7 deep balls to wide open guys)... his completion % is solid but the same problem from last year still exist, that being deep passes and long 3rd down conversions.
