Finished Hunger trilogies just to get back into reading. Quick reads, entertaining. Finishing Game of Thrones now. Don't know if i want to just into the 2nd book or start Ender Games. From this thread, i think im leaning towards Ender.

Uh, I have been reading books for writing scrips for GIS databases and a book on Civil 3D 2013. Nothing too exciting I guess, my room mate got a book on birthdays which I have been checking out.

Does anyone else read only non-fiction? The way I see it is, if I am going to invest time and energy into reading something, I want to learn something.
I understand the premis behind fictional literature and what can be gained from it. but I just cant bring myself to spend the time to read a work of fiction. The last, and longest book I read was "High Powered Investing for Dummies". 792 pages. The good news is I learned a lot. The bad news is I'm still broke. lol

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned Fight Club. The movie follows it pretty closely so you probably wont have the whole surprised experience if you have watched the film but it's still a pretty good read.

I have to read one of three books for a summer course, Band of Brothers is one of the choices. I was wondering what other people that have read the book think about it.

"A Random Walk Down Wall Street" is the title I think of a good book about investing. Comes down to not expecting a greater than normal return unless you want to be gambling instead of investing. |

Thanks for the tip. I will check it out. And of course I've read "Rich Dad, Poor Dad" and "Millionaire next Door". Those 2 books are must reads for anyone starting to learn about gaining weath and financial independance.

A few people talked about Ender's Game on here so I read it, it was wonderful. I read the whole book in two days and that is not my style. I just couldn't put the book down. It is a science fiction book which is what a like so as said before if you don't like sci-fi you might not like it.

For all you guys who just discovered Ender's Game, either continue the series (and it's a pretty long series) or check out Psion Beta. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Game of Thrones was a little difficult to start I felt. Lots of characters and lots of bouncing around the first 100 pages or so. Also the author goes into a lot of detail at times which slows the story down. It probably would have help if I had seen a couple of episodes of the show. However the book is starting to pick up. |

That's always a good one. Inferno is the best of the three of course. I recommend reading the next two and then looping back and reading the first part again. The contrast between Paradis and Inferno is pretty amazing.

I am also reading an anthology of New Yorker cartoons. Which has led me to believe that 80% are infinitely un-funny. I don't know why they are so well regarded.

Started up Games of Thrones. I can see subtle differences between the book and the tv series. The book is helping me catch a lot of nuances between the character interactions that I may have missed when just watching.
