Chairlift Stories

i got on the chair lift with these two girls. while we were waiting for the lift at the line, they were in deep conservation. so the girl next to me didn't realize the lift was just come from right behind us. caught her off guard and threw her off balance. While she was falling, I literally had to pick her butt up onto the lift. lol. she really appreciated me grabbing her butt and my girl can't even get mad at me bout me grabbing some other girl's butt.  

these two guys were taunting this poor skiier that fell and got stuck in pow on a windy day and then next thing i know; one of them falls off. (into pow of course so he wasnt seriously injured i hope)

the other day my buddy and i got on the lift with a chick who was traveling with a group from the UK, we got a little convo going on with and about 3/4s of the way up the lift the girl is in mid sentence my buddy blurts out... "i want to F*** your accent." i face palmed lol the girl turned beat red and it was a silent lift ride after that haha

My brother and I never use the safety bars at Bear Mountain.  One day it was a bit windy and he asked me if we should use it.  I laughed and said no.  Right then a gust of wind blew through.  We looked at the ground then at the sky then at the ground etc.  We used the safety bar after that.

Way back when I was a noob I got the little glove cinch thing caught on the lift but didn't realize it until I tried to get off.  I got dragged almost to the edge before the lift stopped.  The glove didn't break though - score 1 for Foursquare.

I was at my local mountain over the weekend and was riding up the park lift to do some laps and there was the guy teaching his 4 yr old how to "pizza" on the main terrain park.(one of the most annoying things in my thought). Well the kid somehow started to go a little to fast and got away from his dad. He dad was yelling for him to "WEDGE, WEDGE". Well, I guess this kid forgot how to. He didn't stop and went right into the trees. I felt bad for laughing but it was pretty damn funny.

couple of years back i sat down too late so i turned around and hung from the chair lift, grasping to the seat with my arms. fortunately i was able to bring myself back up before falling off.

yeah unless you trip getting on or off a lift this should never happen. you have to be a complete idiot to fall off a lift in transit. the only ones that do where playing around.

where is his board or his skis? i read the article about it and it said that he was throwing a snowball at the group in front of him (the filmers). his momentum carried him over the lift. apparently he was held for 3 days and then sent home. had a small skull fracture and lacerated lung but basically fine.  

3 of us waiting for our turn to ride the lift when this one guy decided to barge our party, caught by surprise my friends and I got separated., he ended up riding with just me. then this guy asked me if I mind if he smokes.  I said I definitely mind.  (there was no line at the lift at all.. he could have taken the next chair all to himself and smoked) I guess he was in a hurry to get to the top of the hill. 

Dude seems to be at least in his late 30s. Too old to be jumping from that high.
There was a nice soft layer, about a foot at most. Definitely not enough to cushion all of his energy from the fall.
At least he still have one ski attached after the landing...well kinda landed it I guess.lol

That guy's got some balls doing that. was there a lot of snow underneath the lift?

at bear valley, i got stuck on the lift and i panicked and jumped off after the landing... somehow i landed correctly and the lift op didnt notice. LOL

Windham in NY has a tree next to the lift full of bras. Another tree is decorated with hanging figurines.

At this small resort near town, A guy got hit a little harder than he expected by the chair, and was teetering on the brink of falling out of it for about 5 seconds, until he did. Below the lift there are some markers sticking out of the snow, and one went straight up the back of his coat. Quite seriously an inch or two in difference of entry point might've killed the guy!

^^ haha Lux, I kind of have a similar story... went to Blue on the last day of the season 2 years ago.  Barely anyone there, only a handful of trails open, and I end up on the chairlift with this young dude.  He, like myself, was by himself just working on tricks and such.  We started small talk about how the conditions were a lot better than expected on such a warm sunny day.  We ended up agreeing that we'd ride together for the rest of the day.  Turns out the dude is awesome and he really pushed me to improve as much as I could before the season literally ended that day.  Later on we decide to take a break, he asks me if I smoke (weed), I said no, but I have some beers I can bring up.  So while we're hiding in the trees, he lights one up while I drink a tall boy.  Met up with him the following season a couple times, then he moved to Whistler and is working and living the POW shred life over there now.  Lucky bastard!

Last night at Glen Eden...:

My dad told me that he was skiing in Aspen one time a long way back when a kid (or young adult) pulled out a vial of blow and asked him if he'd like any..

My dad said "what in the hell! you can't be doing that stuff man- you're too young!" or something along those lines. (at least that's what he claims)..

Anyhow, the kid went on to tell my dad that the day before he was on a lift chair with Jack Nicholson, who had his own vial- but when he pulled it out he dropped it, at which time he said "oops, it seems that I've dropped my lunch."

Just chilling on the chair lift during night ski. BOOM all the lights go out and the lift stops... People start freaking out a bit. People that were boarding/skiing took off the board/skis and started walking down to slope to the lift. After about 30 mins the lift and light came back up. rough day haha

When I went snowboarding during winter break, there was this one guy who was sitting behind me and he was jumping up and down on his seat, and it made all the chairs near him rock up and down.
