Here is some hope for a good season in the Northeast from climatecentral.org:
"In recent years research has shown there may be links between October snowfall trends in Siberia and subsequent winter weather in the eastern U.S., with indications that a rapidly advancing Siberian snow cover can favor colder, snowier winters in the East. With October Siberian snow cover coming in above average, this could indicate an above-average chance of a colder, and possibly snowier, winter, although that has not been reflected in the official NOAA winter weather outlook."

That's a pretty interesting study. Sweet! Hopefully there's going to be more snow this year than last year's dry winter :) According to the weather forecast, there's going to no chance of snow in Lake Tahoe next week :( |

Yeah it could be a beauty. Tahoe people let me know when you're riding I want to hook up with some Sierra ppl this winter. Also, if anyone is in the area tonight, Tahoe Mountain Sports is hosting a free intro avy seminar tonight in Kings Beach -- with free pizza and beer -- I am going to make an effort to get up there.

^Yeah last year was really bad and there was no snow. At least this year, the season looks good so far. There's been over 140 inches of snow in Tahoe in total.

Looks like the winter weather is starting to settle in in the mid atlantic. Getting some light snow at JFBB at the moment, nothing crazy but nice to see. I have 3 days planned next week so the cold weather is certainly a welcome sight.

Coldfront moved in on the mid atlantic recently but hasn't done much in terms of natural snowfall. Manmade has been awesome production and we actually have some skating ponds have opened at least!
There's also a 10" storm apparently rolling through on Wednesday at the local hill.

Definitely been an above average year for the mid atlantic so far in my guess nearing the half way point of the season.
No huge warm spells and a couple decent 6" shots to help resorts out a bit. Hopefully this 50* rain day is one of the last hiccups for the rest of the season. |
