I have a 2012 Bataleon Evil Twin and it's long overdue for a waxing. I ridden it about 7 or 8 times without waxing it, and i know that isn't good. Does anyone have any advice on how to do it? Or if anyone has done it before?
Thanks for the help in advance! Justin |

loads of waxing guides. You could just use a spray wax, its not that big a deal. But if you want to hotwax just head to youtube and look for how to hotwax a snowboard., Itll help you figure it out much faster than you might if you read these instructions.
But if you want instructions (even if im never myself that great at hotwaxing). 1. loosen your bindings. Not essential but it does stop the screw impressions coming throu on the base. 2. Flip it over and crayon on a coat of wax. (basically just rub it in without any heat). 3. Set your iron to the right temp for the wax (it should say). You CAN use a normal iron but a) they dont often have temp guages (just make sure the wax melts but doesnt smoke), and b) they often have holes for steam. YOU MUSNT USE ANY IRON WITH STEAM HOLES. 4. Melt the wax on the iron whilst dripping onto the board. About a dot every square inch should cover it. You dont have to cover the board in one go, i tend to do it about 1/3rd at a time. 5. Iron the wax into the base. 6. Repeat steps 4-5 until your board has a nice covering on it. 7. Leave as long as you like, but let it cool (at least 30 minutes usually). Now yoru board is waxed. Here comes the crappy part. 1. Get a nice sharp scraper, probably go with plastic if you arent comfortable with scraping yet. 2. Scrape the wax off until you get the big lumps out of the way. 3. Leave a nice fine sheen on it. 4. This bit sucks and takes a while. Extra bonus 5 for Bataleon in particular. 5. Where the tbt pivots around the contact area (youll see a sort of ridge like part where the board is curving up to the tail from the middle) be EXTRA CAREFUL scraping it. In fact, you can get away with not really scraping it. Its really really easy to over do this part so its best to just take it very easy at this point. Rest of teh board scrapes as normal, just be careful at thsi point on both the tip and the tail. Once youve scraped, then its just tuning. 1. Get a scrubbing brush with some nice stuff bristles and give it a rub. 2. Then give it a buff, and here is where i give it a little bit of structuring. No idea why, its just how i learned. Its from here on in ill start buffing the wax only in one direction (from tip to tail). 3. Shammy that last bit. Et voila! Waxed board. :) Now go watch a youtube video and get a much better description.

Thanks for the help! I've seen some videos on it, I was curious if anyone has had any experience with the TBT. Is spray wax any good? Never heard of it before

really just those points are the only thing you need to do different. You can just wax and scrape as you would a normal board. As for spray wax, its fine. In decent conditions itll last, in slushier and wet conditions it doesnt stand a chance. But what does? Spray waxing is fine. Not everyone can be bothered to hot wax it.
But here you go in case you missed it. |
