So I have been snowboarding for three years now but I have only been using the boards that the slopes rent to you. I have having troubles finding a snowboard that is great for me to buy as my first board that can handle blacks and parks. Could anyone please help me choose what gear and boards are best for me to buy?

Handling "blacks and parks" is quite the broad spectrum... it's best you take a look at this thread first and do a lot of research:
Based on your recent posts on very old threads, I can see that you know your way around the forums. Be careful not to post the same question under multiple topics, mods won't look too kindly to that. |

Ever tried renting Demos? It will give you a chance to check out high end boards rather than the crappy burton LTR's.

No prob! see if your local shops have demo's for rent. They're usually cheaper than the resorts. Sometimes resorts have demo days too. You pay (sometimes it's free) a flat rate and you get to ride their line up for the whole day giving you an idea of what board can do what. Also it will give you an idea of what you're looking for in a board. Happy Hunting!

I love my Capita Indoor Survival. It literally does it all.
I would definitely demo before buying anything though. Luckily before I bought my board there was a demo day and I was able to try out a bunch of different board types. I didn't get to actually try the type of camber that the Indoor has, but trying all different types gave me an idea of how they all behave and I made the right guesstimate.

Try to buy used board and bindings if you don't mind. If not your local shop should have seasonal rentals for $150 or so. Maybe seasonal demo rentals, if they are nice and you like the setup, they'll forward the money that you used to rent the equipment toward your purchase.
If you live around the Bay Area, I know SportsBasement does that. |
