I'm looking on getting new bindings soon.. I'd rather get the flow bindings if they are comfortable.. let me get some feedback from people that have used all kinds of bindings... thank you

My friend had flow, fit well for him but he did say he would go back after when this breaks. Didn't get into specific on comfort and reason

I've tried:
2007 Ride EX (decent starter binding) 2010 Flow M9 (good Flow binding) 2010 Flow NXT-ATSE (better Flow binding) 2009 Ride Beta MVMNT (still ride them, love them) 2012 Burton C60 EST (still ride them, the best I have) Recently ordered: 2012 Union Force SL (can't wait to try them)
Flow bindings are quite convenient once you have them dialed in. I liked the quick turn around after getting off the lift but once you develop as a rider, so will your ability and efficiency in binding up at the top of the hill, no matter what bindings you use. The thing with Flow bindings is that if you do them up and tighten them until snug, you may not be able to get your boot in for the next run. I always ended up making it a little loose to avoid this. Thus, you sacrifice a little bit of response. Over the years, I've really grown into liking toe caps for maximum response going from toe edge to heel edge. If you're after performance and response, I would recommend going for the 'regular' ratchet style bindings with toe caps. If you prefer convenience (somewhat subjective), then try out Flow. Maybe you should demo a pair before making your decision. As with most brands and models, same with Flow, the higher the price point, usually the more stiff and better response/performance. Not huge on the Flow style.
I've tried Flow, Technine, Union, K2, Salomon, Ride and Rome and Rome are by far the most comfortable bindings I've ever strapped on. They're absolutely perfect. |

never tried Flow bindings. Heard bad and good things (newer models) about them, so I didn't even really judge them until I saw some dude snap the back on one last season...sucks even worse because it was one of the few good powder days we had. I was on the lift and I could hear him cursing Flows. Saw him much later in the day and he was riding regular bindings (rental?) - seemed stoked

I've never ridden Flows nor other quick in/out bindings like K2 Cinch, Ride ContraBand(?), etc. For beginners, don't think they'll notice the difference. But to me, the mechanics of those bindings just can't be as responsive. My buddy used to have Flows and didn't care for them due to the fact that they lack aggressiveness when its required and the lack of toe cap. But that was awhile back, pretty sure Flows have improve since then. Both Ride ContraBand(?) and K2 Autostrap eliminate the toe strap buckle but are not as durable as traditional toe strap/cap, but there's less weight over the toes. My buddy had the ContraBand n I had da autostrap. The ContraBand and casing for the Autostrap both started to wear out very quickly. Just get traditional bindings.

id say stick with the regular bindings the idea of the flow is nice, but i dont see it working well.

I was an early adopter of Flows. It broke on me the second year and they (were) heavy. Don't know much about them now cause I like my regular bindings and don't wanna spend money getting another new set of bindings. It was easy to put on and you can have them on while on the lift (just be careful you don't fall off trying to lean down grabbing your legs). Other than that, you only need to adjust them the first couple of runs and never again you will need to adjust your bindings. No thoughts on park I ride mostly grooms and pow.

The whole speed entry thing is mostly a novelty: if you can strap in a normal binding standing up, then there's not much of reason for speed entry altogether.
Got rid of my Flow bindings. They had issues with keeping the highback in contact with the boot during toe-side carves, and the common issue of calf stress felt while on the lift was also annoying.
Having said that, the new NX2 series that Flow introduced this year is a huge leap forward for speed entry. If there is any advice I can give, it would be to absolutely try the Flow NX2 series bindings, if speed entry is indeed your flavour. |
