Hi there boarders! Peter here :)
Before I begin I must apologize for my bad english, but that's life! Yeah, I have been snowboarding for 2 season's now, and I got my carves, and I am starting to move into rails and medium sized jumps. Atm I got a pretty stiff board, and a bit to heavy for me, so I can't really make to rotate it good on jumps, and I can't pop it. Olie I find impossible with the board, because of the stiffnes. I find it really, boring. So I am looking for help to choose a board that seems to be a good one for my riding; I am looking for a board with flex, so I can do board press (Tail/Nose), pop around, and get some air with :) My budget is alright I guess for my current skillset, about 500-600$ maximum. I live in Norway. I got a snowboard shop not far away from me, and they got a website. Could you check if any of thoose board on this website is anything to consider? Press here My current weight is about 143lbs +/- 5, height is about 1.83m (6ft 03⁄64in) and shoe size is around 10-10.5 (US size) Weight 143lbs +/- 5 (65kg) Boot size 10-10.5 US (45 EU) Riding style (do you like to charge steeps?): Spin 7's/9's, ride groomers?) As I am in the begginger/getting comfertable level, I guess this brett is going to be used to 180s, 360s, railing, poping around, and 5´s later on. And presses, loads of presses! It will be a park&rail board. Age (are you still growing and puttin on weight?): I am 16, but my weight and height is pretty stable, but I guess I will gain more weight. budget (if you have one): Max. 500-600$ but if you could check this page, if any of thoose boards are worth it;This page Your location of riding; Norway, really can´t say more. Since we got all kinds of weather and different ride places. Ty guys! :) and ride hard! This page |

first things first, if you think that a soft board will all of a sudden be able to make you press, then you are doing it all wrong. learn the right way to do things, instead of taking an easier way out to pick up awful habits. second, budget and skill set do not have any relation to each other. also, i find personally that more tension in the tips creates a greater pop when i try to do airs and ollies (personal opinion).
it seems like what you need to do is find a mid-soft to soft (i would recommend cambered but thats my preference) deck and get the basics of everything. take lessons; they will help. i find that you are never too good for a lesson or two. i took a lesson after a few years riding and it fixed some horrible habits i developed over the years. learn to link turns properly. don't skid and drag that shit around everywhere, but rather, utilize the edges by performing carve turns (not rear leg steering!). worry about that before trying to progress into park features, as proper turning technique should be first priority as it helps you no matter where you go. your current deck also may be just a bit too big for ya. that could make shit awfully difficult especially when trying to learn or progress. i would say something around 154-156cm long with around 250ww, maybe up to 252. stances are preference and mess around with width, angles, forward leans, etc. to recommend a few boards, capita stairmaster, burton uninc, rome artifact are all decent. maybe a capita indoor would be good too. GOOD LUCK!

Haha, true true. I do not think the board will make me better, and magicly I can do presses. But I know for a fact, after lending my board to other riders who did´nt belive me (About what I wrote about my board here), trying to prove me wrong, couldn´t do it themself with my board. And I can do nose and tail presses with softer and a bit smaller boards :) But could you please check the link, if any of thoose boards are anything worth buying? They are around 300$, as that is a very acceptable price for me :) But anyway, thanks for the response!

For size considering what you'll want it for, 150-154. My buddy is also a progressing beginner and is riding a 154 and wish to downsize for more freestyle riding. O he's bout the same size as you.
Checked ur website and I've only seen Academy on the mtn from that site. I dunno much bout it so try to do some research on yourself. I dunno which Academy boards I saw but looked like they got a board for your riding style. Those guys on the Academy boards were sick with it. If not, Rome Agent, Capita Indoor, Lib Tech Banana, Sierra Reverse Crew just to name a few. Rome Artifact Rocker might be too flexy for bigger features...just an example. |

Ah wish I can answer that for you but I can only give you my opinion.
I personally dont want to spent that much. But depending location, I know that there might not be much of an option. Rome Agent is probably a great board but for bout 1/2 of the price, you can either get a Sierra Stunt, Reverse Crew, or both for bout the same price. Not the same but similar enough. Any of those boards will help you progress and you'll have just as much fun. I'll just get the Stunt, is a tad softer than the Agent. Is basically the Burton Blunt. If you can, go to a local shop that sells Burton and check out the Blunt. Just checked. Stunt has 153 but is mid-wide. If your feet doesnt fit a mid-wide, Reverse Crew 151. |

I had both the Stunt and R.Crew and sold the R.Crew and kept the Stunt for park (softer more playful). But as 2zz said above, sizes kind of limit your selection here. I also recommend the R.Crew 151 for your weight/height... pair with Sierra Rome S90 bindings.
Great discounts on them both right now. After shipping and everything, you'll most likely still be pretty close to your proposed budget.
