Hello:
I'm looking to purchase some new bindings for my Palmer Honeycomb 164. Currently using size 12 judge boots. Doing nothing to crazy on the mountain mostly bombing, and occasional trees. Been boarding for 6 yrs, prolly a dozen times per yr. want something comfortable, control, and easy to get in and out of. Currently using some old Salomons, don't know the name. Here's what I'm looking at: Rome S 90 K2 cinch Burton custom Ride revolt Open to further recommendations, and appreciate any help. Prolly a little on the stiffer side as I'm returning this yr from ACL surgery and meniscus tear. Thanks, MG

personally of that lot, id go with the S90s
they are a good all-around binder! not too soft, not too stiff...

Looks like your budget for bindings is around $200? The honeycomb is a charge hard stiff board so I'd pair it with a binding with at least medium stiffness/responsiveness. The S90, as dtj suggested, are similiar to the old 390s so they are nice and a great deal at the current price. Also check out the current 390 or the boss 390 (what I'm current using on my board which I love). If you want to try Burton, I'd suggest Cartels over the Customs. MSRP for both of these suggestions are a bit over the $200 mark but I believe are well worth it.

Can I be a cheeky mischief maker and say I'm not a huge fan if the s90s? They're a decent binding and for the price they're hella good, great straps, and pretty decent response. But they ain't anywhere near as responsive as my forces, and they ain't nearly as loose and playful as the contacts, they're kind of a half way house binding and that makes me dislike them. I neither felt they were on point, nor That they were free enough to twist easily around. As I say, they're okay, and for the price I doubt there's a better binding, buuuuut, they sort of feel kinda master of none. I also find their forward lean dubious. I always like a little bit of forward lean in my back foot just to power those turns a bit and the damn thing never holds.
So my take on the s90s is as follows. If you're just looking for a decent binding at a cheap price, these are great, if youre looking for something more pliable or more responsive there are better alternatives out there. They do a decent job as an all round binding... decent though, not bad and not great...but I wasn't wowed by them and there's no way I'd pick these over my forces or as a second pair over something else out there like the contact sl's.
