Do you rewax a brand new board-

I don't usually buy brand new boards so I don't know what's good or bad when it comes to pre-waxed boards. So I got a new Burton Custom board that has factory wax on it. I rode it for a couple of days and can't really tell any different in performance/speed, it's just fast. I know for a fact I can ride it a couple more times before the wax rubs off. I hear that factory wax is thinner (They do it for the board's protection and they do it very thin to save $$) and rubs off a faster/easier than from a regular tune-up job.

My question is, do you re-wax a brand new board right away? or do you wax the board after a day of riding? or do you ride it until it needs to be waxed?

I agree with spenser but as for me I don't have the equipment to wax my board so I just use the factory until I need to wax it.. generally that would mean the end of the season! very bad Yes, but I'm not a speed demon so its all good for me.. however I may need to wax my board to get a smoother transition from edge to edge while i'm learning my switch ( =

I rewax right when i get a new board. Factory wax isnt usually up to par. Plus, it just gets me amped up and excited to go boarding the next day 

I would ride my board a couple more days but I'm seeing some white lines here and there. Maybe 2-3 inches long. That's probably time to pull out the waxing iron. For some reason I am happy that I need to wax my board. lol

i need to wax my board... factory wax job ive got 10 to 12 days on it and its looking pretty white on the base plus its got a bunch of gashes in the wax (nothing to the base) but the way i see it is why waste the money on it if they did it for you?

I used to wax before use but now I just ride it until it needs a fresh wax. Probably after 2 or 3 times.

well..I'm at the point that I don't think I'll wax since I will only ride for two more days this season. gonna be at Wolf Creek in a couple of weeks with my brothers and off my board go in the closet. I think I'll hold off on the wax until I get back from my next trip and kee the wax on throughout summer.

Like everyone says, the factory wax is only really to help the board from drying out. It's a friction/belt wax so it would last about a day (if that) of riding. I personally would brush out the factory wax then apply an iron wax. The more you impregnate your base with wax, the better it is for it's longevity and performance.

I've never waxed new boards..I usually do it after 3 days of riding or sooner if I see the factory wax drying up.

As long as you don't see the base drying out in any area, ride away. Certain companies are better than others and depending how old the board is the wax may or may not be completely gone. Never hurts to throw on your own coat though. Make it your own right away.

if the board is over a year old i'd go ahead and wax it.... if it's current I'd do the 3 day thing.

Sounds good. Anyone here kept on going until they see dryness or worst? You guys wouldn't do that would ya? 

Haha, I'm exact opposite of not-wrx. I ride the first day with factory wax for bonding process. Then I wax it after to see how close I got to the factory wax the next time. Usually within a week...never notice any difference.

i got a new board and got it waxed and even with their crappy waxing skills, it's much better than the factory wax
