Hey guys, I got a GoPro Hero 3 White Edition this past Christmas and it is totally awesome but recently, when I play back videos on my laptop, it looks as if it were set on the slow motion setting but it isn't. The sound plays at normal speed and so to match up the audio with the video, it will skip to a new frame every few seconds. I have looked online and can't find anything on this. Just wondering if anyone has had these same problems and can tell me what I am dealing with. Someone mentioned that it could just be that my computer is slow but I haven't had this problem before. Thanks!

I would say it's most likely your computer. It may not have a good enough Graphics/Video card to keep up with the GoPro's video.

^ I second letourneau41's comment. You need a decent video/graphics card. Are you using Windows Media Player to watch the footage? Are you doing any video editing?
How old is your PC? What processor? How much memory? Most importantly, does it have a video card? |

I had the same thing happen to me on one of my older computers, the thing was at least 7 or 8 years old. Most older computers do not have the processing speed to playback HD video from gopros. It could also be your card class, for HD video you need a class 10.
Anyways, how I got around it was I used gopros cineform to convert the video into a form that my computer could play smoothly. Its a little bit of a hassle when editing but saves more money than buying a new computer. |

^ That brings up another point, are you viewing the footage A) straight from your SD card or B) copying the files to your PC and viewing them locally? If A), copy the files to your PC and try viewing them.

I do have an older PC. I was transferring the files from the camera to my PC so I don't think that was the issue. I have since uploaded the videos and watched them on youtube and whatnot and they look fine. Looks like I need to update my comp! I haven't yet learned how to best edit my vids. It would be much appreciated if someone could help me out with that one as I am inexperienced in that area but would LOVE to delve deeper into video editing! I need to learn more about this! You guys are awesome. Thanks for the help! :]

Here are some links to web sites that review video editing software. I use Corel Video Studio Pro, it's very robust and has a bit of a learning curve.
http://video-editing-software-review.toptenreviews.com/ http://desktopvideo.about.com/od/editingsoftware/tp/professionalvideoediting.htm http://www.givemeareview.com/Video-Editing-Software/reviews.html It takes time and patience to learn a full-featured video editing application. You may have Windows Movie Maker on your PC, which is a scaled down video editor but still functional. |
