Hey so im looking to replace my bindings for some more freestyle/park bindings that provide some good flex for rails and jibbing. From what I understand Romes 390s are outstanding but they are so expensive and impossible to find a year old for cheaper. I was looking for some of the best freestyle binding suggestions. Any ideas?

Another question is, how similiar are the Sierra S90s to Romes 390. They are based on them but are they worth it?

How soft/flexible do you want your bindings? If you are looking for a noodly feeling binding, the Rome 390 is not that sort of street/jib type binding; it's more like an average, kind of bulky freestyle binding. A super flexy binding for a super flexy snowboard would need to use urethane instead of fibreglass in the highback. For a more well-rounded freestyle binding that's most likely much lighter than the 390, check out the Flux DS30. It's more expensive but I can vouch for Flux, being that I've converted all of my bindings to Flux only (coming up on my fourth pair soon in 2 seasons). It's also one of the most favourite freestyle units for The Good Ride team. If it's too pricey, try the RK30, which dials it down and uses a softer urethane highback.

You only like them because your name rhymes with it. Well I guess im not entirely sure who noodly I want to get. Right now im on some crappy Ride EX binding which feel their side to side flex is extemely stiff. I just want something that will allow me to pull off some more playful riding now that im getting pretty serious in the park. Like when i ride with my current bindings i feel like its a hassle to get my board around in anyway.

Union Contact Pro's are the king of bindings IMO. They are stupid light. really buttery, and pretty responsive.
They also don't have any aluminum in their construction which I like. Aluminum makes fore some dead bindings that don't flex at all. |

I got an old pair of 390's from 08/09 that still are perfect aside from normal wear and tear that I'd sell for cheap. They're black.
If you're looking for cheaper, the Rome Uniteds are super soft and nice for a park binding. Don't pair them with rocker though...they don't ride very well with them in my experience.

Sorry for the late reply...
My friend bought last year's Hurritane and he hated it and sold it after a week. Granted that he's still relatively new, he described it like riding on an elastic band and was always falling. If you love street riding, freestyle, and pressing, good choice on the RK30. The Genetic baseplate is from last year, I had it on my TT30. Excellent base and perfect for all-mountain riding-- good response and amazing at buttering! They added a footbed for 2013 and upgraded the highback to a lightened and noodled up version of last year's SF45 highback, so be sure to get the newest model RK30! Tell us how they ride when you get them.

I got the 2012 RK30's. Rode them for this first time today all day in the park. And holy hell such a great binding. Even though they are last years model (couldnt afford the new ones :/ wish i could have now). I have SO MUCH board feel on them. My old aluminium rides gave no feel for the board and so stiff. These RK30s are so god damn comfortable and perfect response and flex. IM SO HAPPY YOU SHOWED ME FLUX, LUX!!
Thank you so much man, such a good investment. Not to mention all the tweaking option in the straps, heelcup, and etc. God im happy with these. My hole riding style feels so much more playful and fun yet i BOMBED down a full mountain run faster then in my old bindings. |
