I need some ideas for a project for my woods 2 class. I can build pretty much anything (we have every tool imaginable) but I wan't to keep the cost under 100$ and not overly complex. My hobbies are snowboarding and golf. I already have a 12 ft rail I built so I pondered building a box but don't think I need both. Maybe someone kind of simple drop in ramp? Has anybody built something like that? All ideas welcome

If you wanted to, you could make a life-sized snowboard that isn't actually functional but could be displayed by hanging it on your wall or something like that. I think it would be pretty cool :D

Totally have build a drop in....or 4. Not too tough, but I don't see them as a wood shop project. It's 4x4 for the posts, 2x6 for the frame of the platform and downslope, and a bunch of 2x4 and ply for the decking.

Maybe make a wall rack or board hanger for your boards?

Make your own wood composite and mill out a snowboard... then laminate it... or stain + burn (burn a pattern)

I was thinking some sort of Golf storage/organization station would be a good wood project.
I like the idea of a nonfunctional snowboard too. Maybe a wall coat rack with a snowboard design.

I would go this route myself, that is unless you already have one. Something that would hold the board/boards vertically, holders for boots, gloves, goggles and so on. Kind of like a jewelry box for your quiver. That is, if you have the space for it where you live. You could keep it simple and cheap by using dowels to hang the boots and gloves. Make shelves for each pair of goggles you have, and hell maybe even hooks on each side to hang jackets/pants to dry. If the budget goes up a tad you could even sink lights on each shelve to light up/show off your quiver. Options are endless seeing as you say you have all the tools. Jealous, I personally have limited tools and space to do all the projects I want to do and build. Would love to hear what you come up with and see pictures, so keep us posted! |
