i was surprised and subsequently irked that each day is planned. i guess if i had really thought about it, it would have to be that way.
Nu-Nu, if you want to come, one guy and i are renting a car and going to Kirkwood on Wednesday. at least that is the tentative plan. Edited by evernod - Feb/26/2007 at 1:57pm |

I have a group of 5 but am not sure what we're going to do that day. It's basically a group concensus, but I definitely do want to check out Kirkwood. |

i think that i am at least condo-mates with this guy Kevin (not on here) that i met through meetup.com and he's the one that originally was talking about driving to Mammoth, but then settled on Kirkwood. i know 5 days without a break is going to kick my ass. i don't really have a "group" in this case, so i'm pretty flexible. |

San Francisco to either shore of Tahoe is a 3.5-4 hour drive (and that's without taking traffic into consideration). If you're up for it, great but I'd be wary (unless I was taking a boarding day trip ).I'm a student so unfortunately I can only make it out on weekends and occasionally Fridays. I'll give you a holler if I can meet up at Alpine on Friday though. Edited by kimchijajonshim - Feb/28/2007 at 3:07pm |

I wore that SierraSnowboard T-Shirt specifically for you at Stratton. So you saw me but never came up to say hi? We'll pretty much be stuck together on the long layover plane ride (sucks ass). And then the 2-hour bus ride.. We'll get there at 2pm. I wonder if there's enough time to make 1-2 runs at Heavenly? ![]() |

i'm not certain but i think Heavenly does night boarding now? when we stayed in Tahoe the last time, there were a ton of lights on like 1 or 2 trails and we could have swore we saw some ants coming down it. can anyone confirm that one?

Are you takin the south shore bus from the airport?
I live in Reno - if you guys haven't reserved the seat yet and don't mind riding in a dirty subaru station wagon with a smoker - I can prolly save ya the $$ and give you a ride, it'll take a lot less then 2 hours.
I've taken that bus before, after being on a plane all day - it kinda sucks.

I think you guys would have more fun at NStar than Sierra. A weekday at the NStar park is amazing they have so many things to hit , all levels of ability and super well maintained. Then hit some powder on the backside, they have some amazing glades.

I was planning on it - but i'm not so sure now.
Just got rear-ended (fucker took off too) on my way home from Nstar today.
Sportin some nice stitches above my eye, and the back of my car is all jacked up. Neck and back are gettin all sorts of painful right now. I gotta go back to the doc in a few days and see what he says.

Mike M: how long does it take to get to Northstar at Tahoe from South Lake Tahoe (Heavenly)? Ferry or car faster?
I may go to San Franciso on Wednesday cause my friends wanna go rather than riding 5 days in a row. I prefer to go to Kirkwood or Northstar if it's driveable/ferry, whichever is faster. But if I go to San Fran, it looks like SierraSnowboard is on the way along the I-50. Pit stop to Sierra on the way to San Fran. I wonder how I'm gonna convince a whole carload of ppl to stop by ![]() http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&hl=en&saddr=South+Lake+Tahoe,+California,+United+States&daddr=5400+Date+Ave.++Sacramento,+CA+95841&layer=&ie=UTF8&sll=37.0625,-95.677068&sspn=48.956293,82.265625&om=1&z=9&ll=38.32873,-121.099548&spn=1.527571,2.570801 Edited by Nu-Nu - Mar/04/2007 at 9:44pm |

car or ferry - that's actually kind of a tough question.
I'd have to say car.
The distance is longer - but it's less complicated, and you're moving generally faster.
You think, if you take the ferry - you gotta get up in the morning, get to the ferry, get yourself and your stuff on the boat, wait for everybody else, wait for it to leave - get across the lake, get off, get in a bus, do that whole thing - THEN go to the mountain.
If you just drive, you just get up - toss your crap in the car and go.
Word of advice - don't bother trying to take 89 around the west side of the lake, it's closed for the winter. You can check to see if it's open - and if it's is, it's a beautiful drive, but it'll prolly still be closed around emerald bay.

i think we are just going to be wiped out. sleep will be in order. and i wasn't sure if i saw you (A) and when i thought i did, you were around 15 people (B). it sounds like that could be just part of your crew! yeah, with only 50 people on this trip, i think we would have to go out of our way to avoid each other. that Stratton trip there were like 350 right? I was the only one with the SierraSnowboard T-shirt, so if u saw a guy with it on, that was me. A whole bunch of my friends came up that weekend since it was one of my friend's birthday and also the first trip of the season. The first Stratton trip is usually the busiest, with 300+ members easily. I was just walking around saying hello to everyone since they are family friends and friends through the years that I've met in the ski club. We'll definitely see each other in Tahoe then! ![]() |
