What size board is good for a 7 year old who weighs about 45 pounds? If I rent a board for my daughter I want to request a good size board for her to practice her turns. She wears a size 1-2 boot. Also, do you have rentals for kids that small? |

i don't have much experience on that end and rather than giving you the
usual bullshit that i remember from the rental dept back in the day,
let me get in touch with one of my buds who spends his days teaching
juniors.

old post but I thought I just got a board for a similar weight similar aged child so I figured I would reply. The big factor was if you wanted to get an easier board for them now or something that will maybe last a seasn or 2. 108cm on the short side to 115cm on the long side. I got my boy a 111cm burton chopper. I can pass it on to his brother in a year or two. As with any board for anybody, the slightly shorter board will turn easier for the kid, and a beginner is going slow. Also, the kids boards should be nice and flexible.
Lastly, unless you are going a lot, look used. Kids are growing out of these things just as yours will. Dropping 150 to 250 on a board and bidings new is a great way to donate to the burton charity, but unlikely to be as cheap as renting (or buying used).

My daughter started on a 105 (which was probably too small for her) when she was 6 and rode it twice last year before moving her up to a Chicklet 121.
The red board is the 105, now my son's board. The other pic is her riding her Chicklet 121 at Smuggs, last winter she weighed around 60-65lbs. She picked up pretty quick and several days of lessons/camp. For your daughter maybe around a 110, try to get the board be about chin to nose high and error on the short side so she can have an easier time getting around.
