6/19/2013 4:41:01 PM This just in: http://news.xbox.com/2013/06/update "So, today I am announcing the following changes to Xbox One and how you can play, share, lend, and resell your games exactly as you do today on Xbox 360. Here is what that means:An internet connection will not be required to play offline Xbox One games â€“ After a one-time system set-up with a new Xbox One, you can play any disc based game without ever connecting online again. There is no 24 hour connection requirement and you can take your Xbox One anywhere you want and play your games, just like on Xbox 360.Trade-in, lend, resell, gift, and rent disc based games just like you do today â€“ There will be no limitations to using and sharing games, it will work just as it does today on Xbox 360.In addition to buying a disc from a retailer, you can also download games from Xbox Live on day of release. If you choose to download your games, you will be able to play them offline just like you do today. Xbox One games will be playable on any Xbox One console -- there will be no regional restrictions. These changes will impact some of the scenarios we previously announced for Xbox One. The sharing of games will work as it does today, you will simply share the disc. Downloaded titles cannot be shared or resold. Also, similar to today, playing disc based games will require that the disc be in the tray." I hate everyone that complained.  I was really looking forward to not having my kids crack my discs, still being able to play the games, and sharing them with my brother in Arizona while I'm still here in Nevada.  Thanks. Thanks a lot.jerks
6/19/2013 3:23:56 PM I think the $100 over is the big killer.  All that other stuff, if you read up on it, ain't so bad.  They said the DRM stuff for selling used games is up to the publisher and the retailer, so some companies (I'm sure EA) will have the ability to charge a fee for used games.  If Sony does not do this, I could see publishers putting some titles only to XBox because of that alone.  But remember that Sony (and apple) has ALWAYS been the forerunner to DRM, so I can't imagine that they won't add some kind of DRM to PS4.  Remember, nothing is final yet.  The sharing thing is awesome.  Xbox has it built it to record the last few minutes of gameplay which you can publish to twitch or even live broadcast.   Honestly, if neither system is backwards compatible, you are starting from scratch so it all depends on which console has the games you want to play...plus that $100.  I like Halo, Forza, and Dead Rising.  Plus, I use my xbox for Netflix, Hulu and HBO Go so having them with voice control is awesome.  I use voice commands to pause my netflix all the time, so that extra $100 is justified for the media functionality.  And my kids love playing kinect games.   I loved my original PS1, but got the original Xbox instead of PS2 because of the online multiplayer.  Now I'm so used to the asymmetric sticks of the xbox controller that I have a hard time going back to the PS controller.   My boss is a PS guy, and when we went to CES a few years ago, he picked up an xbox controller for the first time and said "Oh...wow...this really does feel more natural"
6/19/2013 11:39:44 AM I can believe that.  I've heard that the suicide rate in Seattle is so high because it rains so much and there isn't much sun.  But neither of those actually affect your vision!
6/19/2013 6:28:51 AM I always thought reading in the dark was bad, but I could never find any research to prove it.  But staring at a bright screen is bad...not sure if it makes any difference what the lighting around it is.  However, the new 43" plasma I got for the kids play room has an ambient light sensor so it actually dims the screen when the room is darker.   And Grinch, are you saying that you are going to get the PS4 because all you do is game, while the XBone does gaming PLUS so much more?  Yeah...that makes sense...  But it does save you $100.   Have you guys seen the trailer for Titan Fall?  It's by the original guys who created Call of Duty.  It's only coming to PC, Xbox 360 and XBone:
6/18/2013 6:42:10 AM This Reverse Osmosis system should be here by Thursday: When it arrives, I will install this faucet/sprayer as well: So I picked up this basin wrench to make it easier: Also ordered this ACT Heavy Duty Clutch kit with Performance Street Disc which will be one of the only parts in my car that I DON'T install myself: But my Tokico Blue rear shocks were on backorder...which is fine because I'm not going to install them untill it's starts getting cooler out again:
6/17/2013 10:05:15 AM 43" plasma for the kid's gameroom downstairs so they would stop using the 58" in my living room and I could put that tiny 32" LCD back into my son's room: Absolutely no special features at all and maxes out at 720p, but the picture is beautiful, the viewing angles are enormous for the huge room, and at under $400, I don't care how the kids treat it!
6/16/2013 10:31:26 AM I felt the same way.  I was full into gaming when I got my 360...when I only had 1 kid!  Now I have 3 and my xbox has been used more for media then gameing, so I was going to just fix my old xbox for the kid's gameroom as the one in the living room is new with kinect.   But then I saw how it is integrating you cable or satellite service with the HDMI pass through, allowing kinect voice controls for watching TV!  The new connect sensor is a vast improvement and should allow for more subtle realism, like lifting your controller to raise your shield.   And if you combine that with their "illumiroom" concept...it's getting super close to augmented reality.   This is the best video I've seen showing off illumiroom...my favorite part is at 2:15:
6/15/2013 3:02:40 PM I really wanted to like that burger, so I gave it another shot at a different location.Same result...dry meat, slightly less burnt bacon and hard bun.
6/14/2013 10:20:26 AM It all depends on what the current specials are.  If you are trading in a console, it's always best to wait till november/december...well, except for this year since new consoles are coming out!   If you go to their website, it says what the current deals are.  Right now, you get an extra 50% credit for these specific items: Kindle fireNet 10Beats headsetsDisney InfinityAnimal Crossing: New LeafThe Last of UsNCAA Football 14Splinter Cell: BlacklistMadden NFL 25Grand Theft Auto VBattlefield 4 They also give you an extra $10 for every 3 games, extra $20 for 5 games and extra $35 for 7 games.  And if you are a power up member, you always get an additional 10% credit on all trade in, but currently it's an extra 15%.  If you trade in alot of games, it's worth the $15 a year, plus you get a subscription to game informer and you get 10% off all pre-owned games and accessories.
6/13/2013 12:32:05 PM Had a coupon so I tried McDonald's new Bacon Habanero Ranch quarter pounder.  I cannot recommend it. The sauce had a nice spice to it, but it tasted weird.  The dry patty and burnt bacon didn't help.  It'was $4.  Now I remember why I don't eat there anymore. But I must say, I do love their fries and their sweet tea!
6/13/2013 12:18:41 PM Made "Big 'Ol Mess" on my new grill.  That's smoked sausage, onion, green pepper (I leave out the jalepenos cause of the kids) then mix up sweet n sour sauce with a little hot sauce.  Mix it all together and put it in a foil bag.  You can bake it in the oven too, but it's better on the grill.  I guess my old grill was dying because I'd have to have the flames a little higher then the bottom would burn a little.  But this new grill is SUPER HOT so I was able to turn the flames down, use indirect heat, so I didn't have to flip the bag at all, cause I always end up ripping it!  Turned out awesome.  Would have thrown some pineapple in there if I had any.
6/13/2013 11:10:56 AM You never know...it might come out on Xbox 360 as well. That new game from the original Call of Duty developers, TitanFall, is coming out on PC, XbOne and Xbox 360. And yeah, they were the nintendo wii nunchucks!
6/12/2013 1:31:32 PM Yeah...it's funny cause the DS games I traded in, they only gave me about $0.80 each, but their special was $10 for any 3 games I traded!  And they doubled the trade in value for each console, and they considered both DSs as systems!  Add my power up card which gives me an additional 10% on trade ins so I was able to rack em up!
6/12/2013 1:08:28 PM I traded in my wii with a dozen or so games, nunchucks, 2 nintendo DS and some games during GameStops holiday special and got $360 in gamestop credit...which I traded in at plastic jungle for $320 in amazon credit!  All I use is my xbox 360.  Didn't even have cable tv, just bunny ears, and would watch netflix, hulu, etc on the 360.  Now that the XBone is so tightly integrated with TV, I got Dish (and a free iPad 2!) to take advantage of it.  Both my Xboxs get used daily, and not only for gaming.   and for Von44, here is the vid preview of the new Halo:http://www.ign.com/videos/2013/06/10/news-new-halo-announced-for-xbox-one-e3-2013
6/12/2013 6:56:54 AM Xbox announced that Live Gold members will get 2 free games per month starting with Assassin's Creed 2 and Halo 3 in July.  Obviously an answer to Playstation Plus service.   Right now you can download Fable 3 for free.
