5/8/2013 1:57:53 AM the outdoors man thread seems to be focused on shooting animals, and this includes any and all off-season/summer activities, so... here we go.  what are you up to when it's not snowboard season?  photos strongly encouraged.. first beach fire of the year on a nice evening a couple weeks ago.  this is from the north end of douglas island, a few miles from home, looking back toward the mendenhall valley where I work. went to an arlo guthrie show the other night and almost got kicked out because the volunteers missed the announcement that non-flash photos were okay yesterday I got out on the boat and went to the south end of douglas island, floated around, and had some beers and today was our first bluebird in a while, and temps were in the mid 50s which is perfect as far as I'm concerned.  I rushed from work at 4 to get all my stuff ready, and met jeremy at the harbor where the boat he's living on is docked.  we jetted to the same spot as yesterday, but I had my fishing gear this time.  we trolled for about an hour in a half at 2mph in the sun with beer.  it seemed to me that both my pole and downrigger line were acting funny as soon as I got them in the water, like something was lightly jerking them constantly (lolz), but it stopped after a while so I forgot about it.  long story short, when I pulled my line 90 minutes later in order to head home, it came up with a halibut attached.  he was a little guy and we let him go (although there is no minimum legal size for halibut).  we had a good laugh about it, cause he had likely been on the hook the whole time.  no wonder we didn't get any bites... jeremy took photos of it so I am waiting on those, but here are some that I snapped of hangout time.  also, it should be noted that aly is an excellent boat dog. the spot, with juneau in the far distance where the two points meet aly puts up with too much of our shit this one is facing further south, away from juneau.  straight shot to the open ocean jerms had to be back a little after 7, but another friend was off at 7 and met me there, so we went back out.  headed to a little cove about half way to where we had fished, killed the engine, and hung out for a bit with more beer as the sun went down behind town.
3/13/2013 12:54:57 PM I know she doesn't come here anymore, but used to be a regular... she's up there in the top right corner with her giant goggles, haha her and her lady friend valerie are here til the 18th for a shred trip. zoe's second time, val's first. this thread is to follow our shenanigans and riding and whatnotz. here are the two from last january when she was up here with the one we call shralp! shralp does ak: http://easyloungin.com/forum/topic.php?id=9328 a week in AK video: http://easyloungin.com/forum/topic.php?id=10108 I will be making a random mash of footage from the trip, rather than a movie-style edit like I did last year, but valerie is collecting riding & lifestyle footy and is going to make a movie of the trip. she was one of a two-person team who won the ottowa international film festival last year, so it should be pretty cool. edit: here is the video https://vimeo.com/62592276 [FLASH WIDTH=800 HEIGHT=450]http://vimeo.com/moogaloop.swf?clip_id=62592276[/FLASH] first day riding was saturday.. about 6" of nice snow, mellow pow day! val saggin' after her first ak shred screenshot of max sending it, top to bottom today, about 8" more snow since saturday.  charlie party!  zoe has her own 54 now, and val used the 54 I got for zoe's trip last year. she was stoked! val and haden took a liking to each other.. especially last night.... in my living room while we were trying to sleep....... looks official now

1/16/2013 1:45:20 AM three items up for grabs, all 2013.  detailed descriptions are in the posts below.  I can ship the boots and jacket overseas, but not the board, though I can do the board to canada.  international buyers pay the extra shipping cost (it's not too bad) blue nike ZF1 boots, 8.5.  lightly used shell, brand new liners and insoles.  asking $150 $125 shipped (retail $250) black holden altitude jacket, XXL (fits like a longer XL) - used a couple days, in brand new condition - asking $250 $215 shipped (retail $450) 2013 k2 happy hour 59 - kind of a feeler. I love this board and have talked my ass off about how great it is, but I haven't been riding it after getting the slash ATV, and I don't think I'm going to ride it again, so I would rather get it to a good home where it will be used. can't find them online for less than retail, so I was thinking something fair for both of us. it's lightly used for a few days, so I was thinking starting at $300 $250 shipped
1/9/2013 6:32:36 PM spent a lot of the kids' winter break from school filming with my buddy, our 14 year old shop rider max (AKkid on here) to make him a little video part.  it's about 9 minutes but goes quick... lots of cruisin' side hits, powder, homies, and some great bails.  he's progressed a ton in the past few years and I'm stoked to see what happens in the next few. full screen - https://vimeo.com/57079868 [tube]http://vimeo.com/moogaloop.swf?clip_id=57079868[/tube]
12/5/2012 2:45:40 PM figured i would try to further spread the pow stoke, hence the separate thread.  this was filmed over dec. 3 and 4 at eaglecrest, mostly yesterday, by myself and two of the other dudes out of the four of us. a little long for a web edit, but it goes fast.  enjoy : ) full screen - https://vimeo.com/54970158 [tube]http://vimeo.com/moogaloop.swf?clip_id=54970158[/tube]

11/5/2012 10:25:02 PM As some of you know, I'm part of the local shop up here.  Tonight the building that our downtown shop is in went up in flames, and is a total loss.  Pretty crazy scene down there... all the power was out and it was gloomy as hell.  I could smell the smoke from our main store about 10 miles away. We haven't heard of any people being hurt or lost in the fire.  As for our loss, we are insured so I'm not worried about the product or anything.  We did have a prime location that is now lost, but that's small change compared to everything else.  Damn, what a night.  This was a pretty historical building in Juneau, as pretty much all the buildings down there are. I just stopped through there on my way home (was working in our main shop at the time of the fire).  Our shop is the window below the Elk's sign... the building looks pretty shitty. the scene when I first got there and here are a bunch of photos from my business partner, the owner.  He jetted down there after getting the call.
9/30/2012 2:27:43 PM for those that still don't get it, this is a communal thread for posting your days on snow during the season.  pictures and video strongly encouraged! starting it now.  why?  well because...... not my picture, but... snow coming down real low now.  this lake is more or less at sea level (52ft) and that mountain is 4,200ft.. you do the visual math.  i usually take a picture of these mountains from outside my work, but nabbed this one from a friend's facebook. i say we are on snow in less than a month.  a few years ago, it was only 11 days from now...
9/2/2012 9:51:17 PM wasn't going to make its own thread, but why not.  picked through shots of sam from the 11/12 season and mashed them together during down time at work yesterday.  if you have followed my video stuff, you've seen most of the footage.  all filmed at eaglecrest in chronological order throughout the year. https://vimeo.com/48670845 [tube]http://vimeo.com/moogaloop.swf?clip_id=48670845[/tube]
4/26/2012 12:15:47 PM if you have 15 minutes to spare... here is the video from back in january, when zoe (who some of you know) and our other friend came up for their first time to alaska.  they happened to be here during what turned out to be the best week of the season.  awesome snow and riding, and great times all around.  sat on the footage for months, planning it out here and there, and four days ago it started to happen.  hope you enjoy... here are some links to tons of pictures/writing from the trip http://aklivin.blogspot.com/2012/01/ak-invasion-part-2.html http://aklivin.blogspot.com/2012/01/annual-dan-moller-trip.html and the video full screen - http://vimeo.com/41061028 [tube]http://vimeo.com/moogaloop.swf?clip_id=41061028[/tube]
4/15/2012 10:54:49 PM all 2012.  capita outdoor 56, dakine cobra M, oakley grenade pro frames 2012 nike DK boots SOLD 2012 dakine cobra gloves (goretex, leather) in the color cognac, size medium.  75 retail, asking 30 + shipping ($5 us, a little more otherwise).  used them one day and i just like mittens better.. the mitten version (baron in the same color) is my favorite glove/mitt i've ever owned.  they show very slight signs of touching things on a couple fingers on each side, but i don't consider it "wear."  other than that they are like new.
3/12/2012 12:49:03 AM http://www.zachclantonphotography.com/snowboarding this dude is in town now hanging with the crew... he's an amazing photographer and this is worth the look. some favorites so far... this first one is a friend's roommate in baker.  this one blew my mind.. some people might not even see him in there. a friend was telling me this place never gets snow, but it did this year for some reason.. this guy went and got the first line ever.
3/1/2012 1:41:48 AM it's early yet, but i figured i'd start this off for the year with this.  this thread is for what you do when you're not riding, specifically in the off season.  fishing, skateboarding, swimming, hiking, music, travel, whatever.  i know the season isn't over yet, but we're starting to spend more time outside, besides snowboarding.  anyway.... a friend and i drove to my favorite place today.  this is the best camping spot in juneau and it's a bit of a secret. out the road, off the side down the hills, through the woods to a spit of land. there's a tunnel through the trees.. on one end it opens to where the sun rises, and the other opens to the sun set where the fire pit is. you spend your nights next to the fire with a beer and something to eat, not to mention your friends, as you watch the sun set on the mountains across the ocean channel.. and wake up in your tent to the sunrise on the other side. it's the most beautiful and perfect place i've ever been.............. didn't mean to write that much, hah for full screen - http://vimeo.com/37720559 [tube]http://vimeo.com/moogaloop.swf?clip_id=37720559[/tube]
2/15/2012 8:50:43 PM great conditon (foam is clean and in perfect shape, etc) used a handful of times earlier in the year.  so far this is my second favorite goggle but after going back and forth, i still prefer airgoggles.  i switched straps because the airblaster clip doesn't fit well under my helmet, so you get the 2011 tim eddy recycle pill strap. comes with a blue steel lens which is your brighter day lens, but it worked awesome for me in heavy weather/fog/etc.  something about the color.  got tons of definition when everyone else was rocking clear, which i usually would have too but i pretty much never bothered with the other lenses.  extra lenses are a clear pink (super light) and light blue.  both low light lenses, as good as clear pretty much.  the pinkish one is used one day and the blue one is brand new. retail for all this is $145 i believe, asking 75 shipped in the US and will ship anywhere else in the world for the additional cost (overseas might be $15 so not bad at all)
