||I skied for 17 years, moved to Utah in 2000, strapped on a board, and never looked back. I have been riding for over 10 years now and I am 44. I often wish that I could have started when I was 7 instead of 34.

||It is closer to you than the other resorts here in Utah, but they are too far south to get any decent snow. It's another 4.5 hours to Snowbird, Solitude, Canyons, Brighton...etc. but depending on how many days you're going to ride, well worth the drive. Plus the fact that there will be more places to stay.

||Powder Mountain, Utah brah, it's all natural deep powder with a local's only vibe.

||I agree with Piranha in that Burton is simply another name brand, they also sell low-end consumer goods like everyone else. I would go back to Sessions personally. They spend the extra time on their outerwear to ensure it's well thought out for riders. Most of their jackets also have "recco". I live in northern Utah and most of the season I wear my Sessions Hoodie 5K/5K and when it's really cold and windy I wear my sessions 15K shell. Sessions does one thing and they do it well, much like Union Bindings. End answer: there is not one company that can do everything well.

||In past years I've used the ole 2 liter water bottle and an old skateboard deck or the PVC pipe and a plank of wood. It worked, but didn't work well. I bought an Indi Board off Craigslist last year for 80 bones and it was money well spent. The nylon cylinder is verly well constructed, doesn't give, has 3 grooves that grip the surface you are rolling on, and is large enough in diameter to give you a little height. The board is wide, solid, and has stopping blocks on the end to keep you from rolling off of the end as easily. I would have a difficult time throwing out the dosh for the cost of a new one, but search your local Craigslist for a used one, as a lot of people buy them new, use them a couple of times, crack their skulls on a living room table, and put them in the closet. Good Luck.
